Roots Manuva - Do Nah Bodda Mi

Roots Manuva Do Nah Bodda Mi
Roots Manuva - Do Nah Bodda Mi
(12"/Download) Big Dada BD145/BDDNL145, 2009-06-29

Mr Manuva returns with one of the standout tunes from last year's superb Slime & Reason. Do Nah Bodda Mi was produced by man-of-the-moment Toddla T and, in true Rootical style, Rodney Smith used this bouncy piece of electro-dancehall to tell people to leave him alone! Packing in the hooks in amongst his switchback turns of phrase, it's a superlative performance from an MC absolutely at the top of his game and having all the fun he can squeeze into three minutes of rhythm. And that's before the remixes get going…

Xrabit + DMG$ - Love Of My Night

Xrabit Damaged Goods Love Of My Night
Xrabit + DMG$ - Love Of My Night
(Digital) Big Dada BDDNL144, 2009-05-18

The Texas-Dalston axis return with the third single from their marvellous debut album and it's a cracker. "Love Of My Night" details the traumas and madness of the one-night stand and works less as brag about how Trak Bully and Coool get theirs than as a cautionary tale on the (very funny) dangers of mixing Jaeger and Red Bull. Xrabit once again shows his production smarts by mixing pure booty rhythms with sparkling cascades of synth work. It shows why there's such a buzz around this producer. And, if you really weren't sure, check out his superb, housed up remix of the same tune or his original version of the psychedelic drugs tune, "R We Friends."

Xrabit + DMG$ - Damaged Good$

Xrabit + DMG$ - Damaged Good$
(12"/Download) Big Dada BD142, 2009-03-23

Xrabit + DMG$ complete the warm-up for their debut album, "Hello World," with the self-explanatory "Damaged Good$," a blast of pure adrenalin, good times and fresh-paint stylings. The debut album this trio has fashioned is like a Dirty South "3 Feet High & Rising" for the late noughties. By turns funny, outrageous, silly and clever, it's distinguished throughout by cutting edge production that never shies away from a memorable tune.

XRABIT + DMG$ - Hello World

Xrabit DMG$ Hello World
XRABIT + DMG$ - Hello World
(CD/2xLP/Download) Big Dada BDCD131/BD131, 2009-03-09

Xrabit + DMG$ aren't so much stepping into your world as inviting you to step into theirs. The trio have fashioned an album the like of which hasn't been heard before, a unique mix of influences drawn from across the world and meeting in one of the funniest, most irreverent, freshest hip hop records you'll have come across in a long, long while. Unfraid of being catchy, less interested in your definiton of "cool" than their own, this is deep-fried, full fat, party music - for people who like their parties interesting.

New Big Dada signing : XRABIT + DMG$ (Damaged Good$)

Xrabit Damage Goods
XRABIT + DMG$ (Damaged Good$)

About Xrabit :
"Hi! I'm XRABIT. I live in Dalston. I've been making beats/music for a few years now and I signed to Big Dada Records in 2007. I made remixes for various people and will release an album soon which I produced for Damaged Good$ - check em out they're THE SHIT (extra bold, all caps, underlined, 3D letter action kind of shit)!!! I also like making videos (made one for one of the singles of the album so watch this space!) and drawing and eating lots of ribs. I really love dj-ing, too, and get more and more gigs nowadays so check my upcoming shows (You never know, I might just be around the corner!)... I'm usually on not too late though cause I'm old and need to go to bed quite early. Other than that you can catch me running around Hackney pretending to be jogging or in my living room with my girlfriend and our cat. Send me a message if you wanna say something! "

We first heard about Xrabit + DMG$ here at Ninja Obsession through the remix of 'Dita Dimoné' they recently did for Pop Levi on Counter Records. Two tracks are available on Xrabit's MySpace page, 'Killin Em' and 'Killin Em Remix'. The latter can be easily downloaded in MP3 format if searching on The Hype Machine...

Biography :
XRABIT + DMG$ are, respectively, a Berlin-born producer living in deepest Dalston, and two colourfully-clad, Andre 3000 worshipping Texan MCs. Killin Em is their debut 12 inch, and comes complete with speaker thrashing sonics and verbals that are literally mic-ripping. Along with a remix from XRABIT himself, which doffs its hat to bassline whilst standing proudly alone, it could not be a brasher klaxon call to the world. Welcome to the new new thing.
