Champion du Hip Hop UK et locomotive de Big Dada (aux cotés de Roots Manuva), la division rap de Ninja Tune, Ty revient avec "Closer", sans aucun doute l'album de la consécration pour le MC anglais d'origine nigériane. Depuis le succès de «Upwards» en 2003 (avec les tubes "Wait A Minute", "Haha" et "Do You Want More"), Ty s'est bâtit une réputation de showman à travers le monde, collaborant avec des pointures comme De La Soul, Talib Kweli et Platinum Pied Pipers, ou en répondant aux invitations sur scène de Lilly Allen, Robert Wyatt, Damon Albarn ou Tony Allen. Une occupation du terrain qui lui a permis de gagner de multiples distinctions de la musique.
Ty se différencie encore par ses textes conscients voir philosophiques, engagés voir militants, drôles voir hilarants, chambreurs voir incisifs, émouvants voir poignants.
