The collaboration follows a sell-out gig at Cargo and a Gilles Peterson Maida Vale session earlier this year with The Heliocentrics (Stones Throw Records). Responsible for backing DJ Shadow, laying down beats for Madlib and Yesterday's New Quintet and for fusing influences as diverse as Sun Ra, Axelrod, James Brown and Morricone on their debut album, the Helios, led by drummer Malcolm Catto and bassist Jake Ferguson, have fast become a unique powerhouse of free-thinking beatsmithery. At Cargo in London, they backed Mulatu on a full set of his Ethiopiques classics, brought together and presented by Karen P's Broadcasting and Red Bull. Since then, the process around the new recordings has been in full flow with Mulatu now back in Addis Ababa armed with a Heliocentrics CD of groove ideas and riffs.

Featuring ex-Cannibal Ox MC Vast Aire on a new rendition of the title track - a remix of the version appearing on 'Out There' - and a new psychedelic-funk jam session “Vibration Of The Fallen Angels,” this release follows DOOM and Percee P's “Distant Star” and Guilty Simpson's “Before I Die.” This album collects the exclusive tracks from these three EPs. Three vocal tracks and five original instrumentals complete the collection.

Born Coz Littler, Mr. Chop has been releasing his music on his own label, then on Gerald 'Jazzman' Short's Stark Reality label and most recently on Dusty's Jazz and Milk Records. He's now signed on Stones Throw's subsidiary label Now-Again Records and with the help from The Heliocentrics (Malcolm Catto on drums and Jake Ferguson on bass), he just released an EP, Lightworlds, mixing fuzzy psychedelia, electronics, cinematics, funk and jazz for some heavy dose of mind-expanding tripping music!!
