(CD/Digital) Jazz & Milk JM-CD-004, 2009-10-28
The wait is over! Jazz & Milk has come up with another dancefloor smasher!
The second Jazz & Milk Breaks CD edition is out now. Brilliant international producers and musicians from Barcelona to London, Tokyo, New York, Warsaw, San Sebastian and Munich joined the project and left their individual and often exotic trademarks on this genre-breaking compilation. Taking in fusions of Jazz, Latin, Afro and Funk with eclectic productions, this is all designed for forward thinking dancefloors and minds. The vinyl sampler which already featured some of the tunes got heavy support by the kinds like Craig Charles (BBC 6), Nik Weston (Mukatsuku), Paul Murphy, Dimitri From Paris, Dom Servini and Diesler, just to name a few.

Various - Jazz & Milk Breaks Vol. 3
(12"/Digital) Jazz & Milk JM010, 2009-06-26
Jazz & Milk enters the third round with their highly successful Jazz & Milk Breaks series. Six individual tracks with various influences ranging from Jazz, Funk, Latin to Afro and percussive Beats have already attracted a lot of attention on the Munich Jazz & Milk dance floors and finally made their way onto this versatile vinyl release. The records starts off with Innocent Sorcerers' very own Envee who has turned Pinnawela's tune You Can Dance into a wonderful and swinging jazz dance anthem. The track is followed by percussion maestro César Granados. His unique and vintage version of Dizzie Gillespie's latin-jazz classic Manteca is a true dance floor filler. The Snip's double bass driven downtempo bomb El Boom rounds off side A! On the flipside The Jivers, a new production duo out of Barcelona present a clubby jazz-hit called Do What featuring the unique voice of Anqui. Label head Dusty also joins the compilation with the remix of The Boogoos' afro-funk track The Journey / Ghana '74. Finally Greenwood Rhythm Coalition from New York's great Names You Can Trust imprint deliver a brilliant DJ bomb called Cotonou Caravan.

Various - Contemporary Funk
A Fine Selection Of Some Of Todays Grooviest Funk & Soul Bands From All Over The World
(CD/LP/Digital) Tramp Records TRCD9005, 2009-05-04
Contemporary Funk assembles bands which hearts beat for the original,
raw soul sound they want to keep alive in its original form. The
Sugarman 3, whose former musicians are now members of the famous Dap-
Kings (of Sharon Jones fame) are included just as Will Holland (Quantic
Soul Orchestra). Also Finland's No.1 funk band, The Soul Investigators
(of Nicole Willis fame) are to be found within some more heavy acts.
However, the aim was to focus on new bands on the scene such as
DeRobert & the Half-Truths, The Funk Revolution or the Ben Martin
Trio, to name a few. Original funk music lives on in the 21rst century
- and Contemporary Funk is a great proof for that.

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Who Is Molesting Laura ? (part 4)
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-29
A high-octane selection of psychedelic covers, ranging from latin funk to free jazz, soul and mostly rock. The soulful heavy kind of rock you'd be expecting from us. Laura gets hit in the face. Ten times over. Don't say you don't like it like that... Props to Soul Sugar for giving us those rare 45s - when is the album coming? Props to Tobias Kirmayer and his Tramp and Perfect Toy labels too - this Boogoos single is so good we played both sides in our mixes - when is the album happening? Finally, props to Nick/Record Kicks - we haven't finished picking on this marvelous Trio Valore album yet...

Grant Phabao and Djouls - 21st Century Afro Vol.4
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-02-21
What's African music today besides the many incredible reissues and compilations and a small 'afrobeat' rack? Here's a little deeper digging, with electronic afrojazz from France (Minimoogli), electronic afrosoul from Netherlands (thru England: AIFF reinterpreted by Diesler and Laura Vane), Afropunk Slam from Trinidad (Anthony Joseph on France's leading jazz label Heavenly Sweetness), funky Afrojazz from Germany (The Boogoos), American Afrofunk (Kokolo) remixed by Israelian funkmeister Kutiman, and cinematic Afrojazz from the United Kingdom (Middlewood Sessions)...
