Kinny - Back Street Lust Remixes
(Digital single) Tru Thoughts TRUDD010, 2009-09-14

Fiery, seductive and laden with unforgettable hooks, Back Street Lust featuring Diesler is the upcoming second single from Canadian-born opera singer-turned-soul and funk sensation Kinny's stunning Idle Forest Of Chit Chat album, which is out now on Tru Thoughts. In addition to the lead track, this new digital-only single comes loaded with extra treats including two previously unreleased remixes. The killer Azaxx Remix extends the original into a quirky dancefloor odyssey with flavours of the enormous Latin dancefloor beats of his Exotic Delight Bay album, which won over club and radio DJs everywhere on its release in March. The critically acclaimed Stonephace are also on board, with a characteristically genre-defying remix of the soaringly melodic Hint-produced song, Afro Love Forest. This single release also boasts the Original and Azaxx Remix instrumentals for Back Street Lust, as well as Kinny's captivating a capella versions of both tracks, and the Original instrumental cut for Afro Love Forest.

(2xCD/Double vinyl with Double CD) Tru Thoughts TRUCD194/TRULP194, 2009-06-08

Tru Thoughts' first Shapes compilation of 2009 is a rather massive 29 track double CD collection, featuring a selection of current highlights, remixes and exclusive tracks from acts including Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro, Bonobo, Belleruche, The Bamboos, Nostalgia 77 Sessions featuring Keith and Julie Tippett, Kinny, Stonephace and all the excellent artists currently signed to the roster, of which there are far too many to mention in one coherent sentence. Suffice to say, over the two discs - arranged into 'home listening' and 'DJ' modes - there is plenty of great music for your ears and dancefloors, from minimal soul through downtempo beats and lush jazzy vocal tracks to floor-filling basslines.

Stonephace - Stonephace
(CD/4 track LP+CD) Tru Thoughts TRUCD186/TRULP186z, 2009-05-05

Imagine if you started with one of the UK’s most celebrated and bankable jazz saxophonists and frontline musical innovators, and he wrote all the music, which he then fed to a hungry young producer, who happened to be the Cornish rave scene’s most wanted - from way back when raves were raves – (surely the saxophonist’s sonic nemesis, on paper at least); and then, once he got the sound all nice and filthy, like nothing you’d heard before – especially not from a consummate jazz veteran - the guitarist from one of the UK’s most famous and acclaimed bands came along and added his own Midas touch.

If you did all that, crossed your fingers and hoped for a huge bestowal of je ne sais quoi, you would be on your way to creating your very own Stonephace, whose self titled debut features some of the best live musicians around, including main man, veteran jazz dissident Larry Stabbins on sax, Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley and bassist Jim Barr, with a guest turn from Dizzy Gillespie collaborator Guy Barker on trumpet. The dirty hip hop/breaks production aesthetic comes care of your Cornish sonic alchemist Krzysztof Oktalski, binding together electronica, jazz pedigree, indie credentials, and a big swoosh of psychedelia in a Madlib-esque genre brawl.
