Infected'is a double 12" featuring vocals by Hitomi and Roots Manuva + remixes by Autechre and Scratcha DVA. It's a bridge between the acclaimed London Zoo album and The Bug's forthcoming dub battle with legendary producer Adrian Sherwood. Having emerged with notable critical acclaim for last year's King Midas Sound album Waiting For You, Kevin Martin reunites with King Midas Sound vocalist Hitomi for the lead track Catch A Fire and reworks Skeng into a harrowingly sick protest song recalling 80's pop-realist classic Ghost Town by The Specials. Catch A Fire features Justin Broadrick (Jesu/Pale Sketcher, and ex Godflesh) albeit fleetingly, with an ear catching guitar drop in the centre of the tune. This is their first work together since the infamous Techno Animal albums they worked on together...

Roots Manuva - It's On

Brand new track from Roots Manuva which features on the Ninja Tune 20th anniversary box set release - Ninja Tune XX, released 20 September 2010. He also has another new exclusive track on the box set as well as remixes of his work by Micachu , Modeselektor , Cut Chemist and Slugabed amongst others. Roots Manuva is headlining the Ninja Tune XX party at London Ewer Street on 2nd October 2010, as well as playing dates in Paris and Brussels. His latest album, Duppy Writer, a collaborative remix collection, is out on September 6th.

Fire up the barbecue, crack a Dragon Stout, mix up yer Guinness punch, carry out whatever cliched act of Caribbeanism you can think of, because it's summer at last and a new Roots Manuva album is here! And with artwork from the legendary Tony McDermott (who was responsible for the illustrations on Greensleeves classics by the likes of Scientist, Mad Professor< and the famous Carnival of Reggae 12" sleeve) it's a thing of beauty.

Okay, let's clarify that 'new' a little. What you hold in your hands is in fact largely a series of re-works by a talented producer who, for reasons best known to himself, goes by the moniker Wrong Tom, who turned in an album which covers all four of Roots Manuva's main albums, plus tracks from Dub Come Save Me and Alternately Deep and a brand new collaboration with Mr Manuva and Ricky Ranking on lead single Jah Warriors. Tom decided to re-imagine each track as if his re-work was in fact the orignal version of the tune from a previous decade...

Roots Manuva returns dropping the righteousness. The only brand new track from the forthcoming Roots Manuva meets Wrongtom project, Duppy Writer, Jah Warriors is a low-ended, bumping reggae-hip hop jam which sees Roots himself running through a host of lyrical styles and themes sounding as fresh and as fired up as he has in ages. Meanwhile, the one and only Ricky Ranking adds some soundsystem sweetness pon de chorus. The basic music for Jah Warriors was written and assembled by Mr Manuva. When he had something he liked, he handed it over to Wrongtom who re-worked the drums to fit with the rest of the project and added enough warm bass to really make the tune bounce. The results are dynamite - a tune which sounds simultaneously classic and utterly contemporary. The package is rounded out by Bashment Bogle, a sparse stepper based on the classic Bashment Boogie (and completely exclusive to this single), and Rebuff - a digi-club re-work of last year's Buff Nuff. Warm, funny, infectiously danceable, Duppy Writer reveals Roots Manuva as one of the most compelling voices in the last two decades of British music. It also makes you smile.
