Giant Panda - "Fly School Reunion"
(Tres Records)

Voilà un album plutôt attendu suite au succès des singles qui l'ont précédé, "88 Remix" (sur Ukenjam, en 2003), "With It" (Tres Records en 2004) et "Superfly" (Tres, 2005). Un albuml entièrement mixé par Thes One de People Under The Stairs. Un album de hip hop bien old school et californien, donc. Malheureusement, le promo qu'il m'a été donné d'écouter contient toutes les minutes un insupportable bla bla sur le thème de "faut pas pirater ceci est un promo", PAR-DESSUS la musique. C'est un scandale honteux que de gâcher de la rondelle ainsi. Envoyez-moi le véritable album pour une véritable chronique! Sinon apparemment des morceaux sont écoutables sur tresrecords.com mais vu que ni Firefox ni Explorer 6 n'arrivent à lancer les liens du site ça n'est pas très utile... Bref niveau marketing chez Tres Records c'est du grand n'importe quoi et le label ne devrait malheureusement pas y survivre très longtemps....

People Under The Stairs - "Sunroof", "We'll be there" & "Youth explosion"

"Sunroof" est un inédit extrait de la compilation "OM Lounge vol.4", tandis que "We'll be there" et "Youth explosion" proviennent eux du second album des People Under The Stairs, "Question in the form of an answer". Pour du hip hop old school, classique de chez classique, flower power San Francisco et tout et tout, vous allez être servis. "Sunroof", mon préféré des trois et à mon avis le plus représentatif du groupe même si ce dernier sait aussi foutreusement groover, porte bien son nom et évoque une bonne flânerie perché sur le toit à zoner. "We'll be there" est lui plus jazzy", alors que "Youth explosion" verse dans l'archi-classique de fin de mixtape, peinard. Au passage, notez que les 3 albums des People Under The Stairs sont juste 3 grosses tueries dans l'esprit de ces mp3, qui s'écoutent d'un bout à l'autre et en boucle. Fait rare de nos jours dans le hip hop pour être signalé.
PS Un film Flash est dispo sur le site d'Atom Films, intitulé "Finding Bin Laden", dans lequel les 2 héros de People Under The Stairs sont chargés bar un Bush cocaïnomane d'aller trouver Bin Laden dans son repaire pour lui mettre sa race dans une battle hip hop...
