It's been a very active year on the mixes front on the Paris DJs website, with no less than 20 new mixes from our crew members, and 48 guest mixes, with a unique original artwork (usually by Djouls), something closer to sonic perfection with our own audio mastering when needed (by the only Grant Phabao) and whenever possible, a detailed tracklist info with links and artcovers for each record played. We're trying to raise the standards of music podcasting each year! The Hidden Orchestra mixes are monsters. We haven't heard anything close to this before, mixing cinematic beats, hip hop, psychedelia, Portishead, their own Radiohead remixes and many more surprises. If you haven't checked those, get your ears on asap! Their album Night Walks, released on Tru Thoughts, is a real treat for fans of the jazz/nu jazz/cinematic ever-evolving crowd. Grant Phabao & Djouls' Cosmic Tropical Disco mixes are killer selections of the current disco re-edit craze, and don't worry, we'll keep on diggin' this scene in 2012. You also loved the timeless spiritual jazz offering from Karl Hector who released a stunning afro/psychedelic/jazz/funk EP, Tamanrasset on Now-Again this year. And finally many were touched by Loik's tribute mix of eternal respect to Gil-Scott Heron - may our brother rest in peace.

We're closing this year with a party mix for the new year's eve, cooked live by DJ Loik on december 30th with a selection of vinyls brought by your main operator Djouls. This is our 68th mix in 2011, twenty came from our own decks, while we managed to bring in 48 guest mixes. We know a lot of people enjoyed the Jan Kohlmeyer Yuletide DJ Mix posted early december (very funky!), but that didn't mean we wouldn't also be there for our annual 'Wishing you a stupid Xmas' audio greetings. Every year you know you can count on Captain Détendu (the man from J.E.W.P.O.P.) to spice the Christmas selection with some eccentric carols and Hawaiian jingles. Did you pass on La Verdad, the latest Bio Ritmo album released at the end of the summer on Electric Cowbell Records? If that's the case, then you've missed the Salsa album of the year, no less. From electro-organic funktronica to jazz, soul & afro, Niko Schabel and friends a.k.a. Radio Citizen have already amazed us twice, in 2006 with Berlin Serengeti, and in 2010 with Hope and Despair (both on Ubiquity Records).
