Loka - The Daily Bread
Tuesday 15 November 2011, 15:47
Loka's discography isn't hard to follow. All of this psychedelic jazz band's records have been released on leading UK label Ninja Tune. It all started with an exclusive, cinematic, trippy track on the label's 10-year anniversary collection Xen Cuts in 2000. Then 4 years later the band released their first single, the marvelous Beginningless, proving once more that Ninja Tune was THE 21st century jazz label at the time. 6 months passed before Loka re-imagined a Blockhead track, Sunday Seance, as a flurry of drums and gorgeous stringiness. Their first album, Fire Shepherds arrives in 2006 and...
Phish Are Molesting Laura - Halloween Special!
Monday 31 October 2011, 14:55 1
Our first published reviews and analysis of the Phish phenomena on the Internet happened in 1996 - more than 15 years ago today… Many things happened in the musical world since then, but this American rock/jazz band you might never have heard yet is still the best the live scene has to offer, worldwide! There's been some ups and downs in their history, but they're currently touring, rocking, grooving and bending minds as fresh & hard as ever. Forget what you think you know about what music can do to you, just go see this band on stage if you have the chance. Phish are regularly...

Saturday 29 October 2011, 16:20
What more could we say about Mushroom? In his just-published review of the band's latest album, Mr. Moo says: "Originally from The Bay area, home of the freaks, this rather instrumental combo channels every style there ever was in progressive music: californian psychedelic, electric jazz & funk, kraut-rock, afro-beat, avant-garde, ragas, garage, british folk & jazz, soul, prog & space-rock". Before that he had written a mind-bending interview from their bandleader Pat Thomas and had published a tripping Mr. Moo presents Mushroom pt.1 mix to download. Well here's the...
DJ Format & The Simonsound - Paris DJs Mix
Saturday 15 October 2011, 13:00 1
"The Simonsound is Simon James and Matt Ford (DJ Format). Sometimes we make music together and sometimes alone and maybe that's a bit confusing but we don't mind as long as people enjoy the music. When we started making music together as The Simonsound we didn't want people to associate it with the music of DJ Format because it is so completely different but eventually we decided to let people know and just judge for themselves. The mix is a selection of Psychedelic/Electric records from around the world collected by Matt and put together by Matt & Simon. DJ Format's new album A...

Mr. Moo presents Mushroom pt.1 (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2011-09-24 We've been featuring Mushroom in our annual best of' albums selections so many times that bandleader Pat Thomas started coming back to us about doing the interview we had offered to do years ago already. The band keeps on releasing mind-blowing records year after year so we asked our psychedelic music expert Mr. Moo to take care of what ended as an Herculanean work…. You can read the interview here. To go along with with this in-depth discussion, Mr. Moo has prepared two 45mn mixes focusing on Mushroom's music, with...

Thursday 13 December 2007, 04:14 2
