Latin music as seen through the eyes of Paris DJs Grant Phabao & Djouls sounds like nonconformist crate-digging mixed with deep funkiness, with a solid layer of good nonsense beneath them. The plats they're serving here assemble Peruvian or Brazilian soul, American funk, European salsa, remixed Columbian grooves and Miami latin hip hop. All dressed in their shining afro-latin stylings. The dishes are no less delectable and the cooking no less accomplished on the second part of the menu... Percussionniste, peintre et poète, Henri Guedon est mort il y a quelques jours à Paris. L'homme qui a amené le son Fania à Paris, le premier musicien français à avoir joué avec les maitres de la musique afro-cubaine (Sabu Martinez, Ray Barretto, Marty Sheller...) méritait qu'on lui adresse un ultime salut... Entre classiques et raretés (l'album qu'il a fait avec le brésilien Solon Gonçalves à Paris!), "Ça Ka Zouké" sur le son des Antilles!
Percussionnist, painter and poet, Henri Guedon died a few days ago in Paris. The man who brought the Fania sound to Paris, the first French musician to play with the masters of the afro-cuban music (Sabu Martinez, Ray Barretto, Marty Sheller...) deserved an ultimate au revoir... Between classics and rarities (the album he did with Brazilian Solon Gonçalves in Paris!), "Ça Ka Zouké" on the sound of the Antilles!
