Biography :
Classically trained musician Sneaky realised the need to search for his own musical identity at a very young age. After many years of formal training on cello and double bass, and the completion of a music degree in his hometown of Manchester, Sneaky became involved with forward thinking club nights Headfunk and Eardrum alongside a young drummer James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco) and resident DJs Mr Scruff, Andy Votel and Mark Rae. By 1997 Sneaky was heavily involved with Mark Rae's Manchester based label Grand Central as a live session musician touring extensively around Europe and Australia with Rae & Christian.

A session with fellow Mancunian, Mr Scruff, in 1999 produced the cheeky dance-floor classic "Get a Move On" and the following year Sneaky formed Fingathing with fellow R&C band member and turntablist Peter Parker, after jamming together in the downtime of the R&C rehearsals.

7 years of worldwide touring, 3 albums, several singles and EPs released through Grand Central and Ninja Tune, Sneaky is now itching to make his solo mark.

Sneaky will perform at The Big Chill 2009.

Professor Oz - Robotronic
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-02-01

Our own estimed electro, ambient and deep house specialist, the mighty Professor Oz, called on day to tell us about a thematic mix he had cooked specially for us, centered on robotic voices, Zapp's famous talk-boxing.... He had just finished producing his wife's album, Nelo's upcoming "Rue Myrha", and wanted to take a bit of time to be a part of Paris DJs ever-expanding collection of thematic musical trips. Too bad, his previous mix "Chill-Out zone" is not available anymore - but be reassured the Prof will be back very soon with new sugar mixes deep-pan fried just for your ears...

Steinski - Nothing To Fear - A Rough Mix (part 2) | Comments: 0

Steinski Nothing To fear
Steinski - Nothing To Fear - A Rough Mix (part 2)
(bootleg CD/MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com) Soul T'ing CDSTEINNOTH, 2007-06-22

Info :
I sincerily hope you've heard about the man Steinski before, through his famous megamixes with Double Dee ["The Payoff Mix", "Lesson 2 (The James Brown Mix)", "Lesson 3 (The History Of Hiphop)", "Jazz"], through his releases with Mass Media ["The Motorcade Sped On", "We'll Be Right Back", "Let's Play It Cool", "It's Up To You"]. Those were incredible, exceptional and amazing cut'n'paste bombs launched during the 80s and the 90s. If you haven't heard these, it's still high time to educate yourselves. Thankfully, they're all available out there in blogs, on the p2p and such...

Steinski is indeed one of the pioneers of sample-based breaks mixes that have been flourishing with the advent of file-spreading. I've had the chance to meet him in Paris during his Red Bull Academy course, thanks to Fred Elalouf's Ping Pong agency, and when I contacted him to come and join the Paris DJs party, he got hooked with the concept of 30 mn thematic mixes right away. He offered us to put up one of his past mixes to advertise the new one he'll especially cook for for us in a few months time!

We've chosen to re-play the "Nothing To Fear - A Rough Mix" program he had done for Coldcut's legendary Solid Steel Radio show from a few years back. The mix has been bootleged on CD and vinyl at the time. We've split it in two parts and had Grant Phabao mastering it for mp3 podcasting. Here's the second half. Enjoy!

Lanu - This Is My House | Comments: 2

Lanu This Is My House
Lanu - This Is My House Vol.1
(MP3 podcast on www.parisdjs.com) Tru Thoughts, 2007-03-01

Info :
After a couple of tasty soviet selections mixed from Russia (with love) ((and happiness)) by Ivan Tchizhevsky, we're now visiting another continent with our new guest from Australia: Lanu.

Born in New Zealand, Lanu's from Melbourne and mostly known for his guitarist in the famous deep-funk band The Bamboos (on Tru Thoughts Recordings).

He's also quite a producer, for his solo Lanu projects, as half of production team No Comply and in the Local People collective... Add to that deejaying and remixing skills, co-founding Melbourne's Local People and Equatorial labels and running the Bamboo Shack Records label, and you'll understand why we're proud to have him invited on board of the Paris DJs podcast.

Lanu's just released a new 12 inch single ("Dis-Information/Mother Earth") on leading UK label Tru Thoughts, and his first solo album "This Is My Home" should be out on March, 5th. It's a grower of electronic-soul-funk original blending.
Don't say we didn't warn ya.
