Quasimoto - "The Further Adventures of Lord Quas"

"Madlib est au hip hop ce que George Clinton est au funk". "Madlib et MF Doom sont les Sun Ra du hip hop". Madlib est de retour avec sa voix pitchée et son pseudo Quasimoto et il va être difficile de lui trouver de nouveaux superlatifs. On ne peut déjà qu'acclamer un disque de hip hop dont la pochette fait discrètement référence à Frank Zappa, LE compositeur de génie du vingtième siècle (le "Freak Out" sur la cover provient du premier album de Frank avec les Mothers Of Invention). Madlib lui n'en est pas encore là et on hésite à classifier ce disque en "free hop" (l'équivalent hip hop du free jazz...) ou en "marijuana beats" (à consommer sans modération). Dans les deux cas force est de reconnaître le talent unique de Madlib qui n'a de cesse de mettre des baffes au hip hop mainstream. Roulez donc jeunesse un gros blunt, et laissez-vous embarquer dans ce trip.
