Paris DJs Soundstem - 21st Century Latin Vol.4 (Latin Funk)

The Latin scene is vibrant in Europe. Quantic offered at the beginning of the summer a fantastic new album on a Columbian tip. Don't miss his live show with his Combo Barbaro in Paris on September 12 (Le Bataclan). Electic new albums from Black Grass and Dub Pistols are filled with marvels in all styles - latin grooves included. Palov & Mishkin come from Greece and their latest CD has been spinning all summer in our stereos. Skeleton is the new project from Brighton's jazz master Nostalgia 77, rising the bar with each new release. An afro-latin piece will first be available on the upcoming Impossible Ark compilation out early october via Unfold/Tru Thoughts. Spain is here too with an extract from the vibrant Achilifunk remix compilation from Lovemonk records. We'll def play more tracks from this one in the future! More spanish soul jazz vibes from Spain are featured with The Jivers and their swinging song taken from the latest Jazz&Milk Records compilation EP. I've grown to the habit of buying this German label's vinyl release systematically and haven't been disappointed yet. More German latin funkiness comes next from Una Mas Trio and Mo' Horizons, both on the Agogo label, another one to be followed closely. We close the mix as we started it, with an artist from Brighton, Black Grass - his third album is so full of hits I regret buying it on CD only.

Latin music has always been a favorite for us. We could talk for hours about Deodato, Marcos Valle and so many others. We even managed to produce an 'Electronic Bossa & Psychedelic Soul Samba' album a few years ago with Captain Détendu... Our '21st Century Latin' series is in the same vein of latinized electronics, latin dub, electro-colombian psychedelics, latin jazz & funk... We're diggin' here! Another nugget from Lovemonk's new 7inch offspring label Marula Soulfood. This one is one of our favourite Quantic songs and here gets a respectful remix treatment from Lovemonk’s one and only Señorlobo and the king of spanish beats Watch TV. Together they add some explosive horns, heavy bass and great drums and beats. Alice Russell sings here ading her unque soul touch.

This is a Lovemonk exclusive and very limited release, so be fast. As all the records in the series, this limited 7”s will feature original artwork (Nigel Peake signs this charming cover) and a Soulfood recipe.
