Ninja Tune XX presents King Cannibal - The Way Of The Ninja
(CD/promo CD/download) Ninja Tune ZENCD162/ZENCD162P/ZENDNL162, 2010-11-08

"A 254 track journey through 20 Years of Ninja, Ntone, Big Dada and Counter, as only Dylan Richards knows how. Free download when you buy the Ninja Tune XX box set, standalone CD coming shortly after. This redefines the term 'mix CD' in a lot of ways." - Dj Food

"(...) Ninja has a rich tradition of getting creative behind the turntables, from Coldcut's groundbreaking 70 Minutes Of Madness Journeys By DJ mix to the diverse Solid Steel series, so why not try and up the ante a little? So three months and a little over 250 tracks later I arrive at 74 minutes of music mixed, blended, sliced, diced, torn up and finally rendered to audio. A lot of classics, personal favourites, some slept on and a few exclusive acapellas and instrumentals care of the Ninja family. Sure there are some classics left off - The Crow immediately springs to mind, but as it stands this is 'The Way Of The Ninja', not only a Ninja Tune retrospective but the sound of my last 20 years." - King Cannibal

On the back of the amazing reactions to the debut album Let The Night Roar and his Prodigy remix causing the internet to go into meltdown Dylan Richards aka King Cannibal returns with two completely new tracks. Downtime and Stone Tape Theory were originally recorded as part of the Let The Night Roar sessions. When he listened through, though, Richards decided that they didn't really fit with the feel of the record. They did, however, work so perfectly together that in his own words, "it's hard to talk about each song seperately." So, here they are, the terrible twins of Richards' dark musical imagination.

(CD/Download) Ninja Tune ZENCD151/ZENDNL151, 2009-10-12

"I’m really really happy with it, a proper mixture of 145bpm tracks, distorted dancehall, drone / doom, techstep textures, techno and sharp as fuck foley shit. (if i do say so myself) Guest slots from Daddy Freddy, Jahcoozi & Face-A-Face and a couple of others. The album is being mastered Friday week and expected to be released around late August early September on Ninja Tune, with a final single to precede it most likely around July or August." Two Fingers - Bad Girl (feat. Ce'Cile & Sway)

Two Fingers Bad Girl
Two Fingers - Bad Girl (feat. Ce'Cile & Sway)
(Download) Big Dada BDDNL154, 2009-08-31

Two Fingers return with Bad Girl, one of the standout tracks from their eponymous album. The original version of the track was a showcase for Jamaican star Ce'cile's unique dancehall flow. Here, Sway has been invited to add his own take on the theme of bad girls, which he does with his usual wit and poise. Remixes come courtesy of Ninja's two resident stars of dark, King Cannibal and The Bug. King Cannibal turns the original into proto-jungle, cut through with vicious bass-stabs. The Bug, on the other hand, combines dubbed out ghost-dancehall with rudimentary rave bass.

King Cannibal - So... Embrace The Minimum
(12"/Download) Ninja Tune ZEN12248/ZENDNLS248, 2009-08-17

Not for nothing has Radio 1's Mary-Anne Hobbs has already declared the music of Dylan Richards aka King Cannibal "too dark!" But with So… Embrace The Minimum Richards takes a step back from the intensity of Aragami Style and Murder Us with a tune which uses its considerable energy for upliftment. "It's really my take on what artists like Martyn are doing with dubstep," Richards explains, "combined with my love of Detroit techno". Championed by The Bug, Bong Ra, Jagz Kooner, Strictly Kev, Kid 606, Knifehand Chop and Ebola, King Cannibal was recently personally requested by Liam Howlett to remix the Prodigy. His debut album, Let The Night Roar is due Autumn '09 and the ground is already rumbling as it approaches. Get dark. KING CANNIBAL SENT ME A CORRECTED TRACKLISTING, DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE NINJA TUNE IS PUBLISHING. THE LABEL AND PROMO AGENCY DIDN'T SEND/GIVE ME ANY COPY OR PROMO COPY SO I CAN'T TELL REALLY WHICH TRACKS ARE ON THIS RELEASE. (Djouls)

King Cannibal - Virgo / Murder Us
(12") Ninja Tune ZEN12233, 2009-04-20

Dylan Richards aka King Cannibal returns with his latest smash to the solar plexus, "Virgo". To flesh out his twisted, industrial take on dancehall, dubstep and drum & bass, vox are provided by brand new French crew Face-A-Face. This is the vocalists' first release and they sound magnifique over a rhythm built firmly for the dancefloor and set to do considerable and lasting damage in any such context. All amplified thumb piano, fidgeting rhythms and filtered nastiness, Richards chops the vox to pieces and puts them back together, all to make you lose the plot.
