Il y a plus de 3 ans de cela Dusty fondait le label Jazz & Milk en Allemagne, avec un premier EP aujourd'hui culte (et un hit underground avec le Jazzhole de Free The Robots) et des artistes comme Mr Chop, Rube ou Romanowski. Entre la soirée mensuelle du label à Munich, des remixes pour The Hi-Fly Orchestra, Analogik ou encore Tom Eno, Dusty voyage à travers le monde entier et remplit les dancefloors des clubs et festivals avec ses DJ sets exotiques, mélanges de mélodies jazz et de beats hautement percussifs. Concernant les sorties vinyles et CD, attendez-vous à un feeling toujours relativement club, mais aussi moultes solos jazz, beaucoup de mélodies, et surtout un mix permanent entres modernité et son vintage!

The wait is over! Jazz & Milk has come up with another dancefloor smasher!
The second Jazz & Milk Breaks CD edition is out now. Brilliant international producers and musicians from Barcelona to London, Tokyo, New York, Warsaw, San Sebastian and Munich joined the project and left their individual and often exotic trademarks on this genre-breaking compilation. Taking in fusions of Jazz, Latin, Afro and Funk with eclectic productions, this is all designed for forward thinking dancefloors and minds. The vinyl sampler which already featured some of the tunes got heavy support by the kinds like Craig Charles (BBC 6), Nik Weston (Mukatsuku), Paul Murphy, Dimitri From Paris, Dom Servini and Diesler, just to name a few.

The Latin scene is vibrant in Europe. Quantic offered at the beginning of the summer a fantastic new album on a Columbian tip. Don't miss his live show with his Combo Barbaro in Paris on September 12 (Le Bataclan). Electic new albums from Black Grass and Dub Pistols are filled with marvels in all styles - latin grooves included. Palov & Mishkin come from Greece and their latest CD has been spinning all summer in our stereos. Skeleton is the new project from Brighton's jazz master Nostalgia 77, rising the bar with each new release. An afro-latin piece will first be available on the upcoming Impossible Ark compilation out early october via Unfold/Tru Thoughts. Spain is here too with an extract from the vibrant Achilifunk remix compilation from Lovemonk records. We'll def play more tracks from this one in the future! More spanish soul jazz vibes from Spain are featured with The Jivers and their swinging song taken from the latest Jazz&Milk Records compilation EP. I've grown to the habit of buying this German label's vinyl release systematically and haven't been disappointed yet. More German latin funkiness comes next from Una Mas Trio and Mo' Horizons, both on the Agogo label, another one to be followed closely. We close the mix as we started it, with an artist from Brighton, Black Grass - his third album is so full of hits I regret buying it on CD only.

Jazz & Milk enters the third round with their highly successful Jazz & Milk Breaks series. Six individual tracks with various influences ranging from Jazz, Funk, Latin to Afro and percussive Beats have already attracted a lot of attention on the Munich Jazz & Milk dance floors and finally made their way onto this versatile vinyl release. The records starts off with Innocent Sorcerers' very own Envee who has turned Pinnawela's tune You Can Dance into a wonderful and swinging jazz dance anthem. The track is followed by percussion maestro César Granados. His unique and vintage version of Dizzie Gillespie's latin-jazz classic Manteca is a true dance floor filler. The Snip's double bass driven downtempo bomb El Boom rounds off side A! On the flipside The Jivers, a new production duo out of Barcelona present a clubby jazz-hit called Do What featuring the unique voice of Anqui. Label head Dusty also joins the compilation with the remix of The Boogoos' afro-funk track The Journey / Ghana '74. Finally Greenwood Rhythm Coalition from New York's great Names You Can Trust imprint deliver a brilliant DJ bomb called Cotonou Caravan.

Some of you might remember the end of year 2007, when we put up an Unfabulous Megamix from Brighton's 21st century post-breakbeat funkster Flevans. We were celebrating the lad's second album released on the Jack To Phono label. Since then we had many thank you feedback from people delighted to have discovered those authentic new grooves. Flevans will be back on May 18th on his former label Tru Thoughts with a new album, 27 Devils, that's been playing on repeat on my CD player (along with the upcoming Quantic one). He cooked a brand new exclusive mix for Paris Djs to help announce it, with many recent but rare releases in the lot, 45s, 12 inches, bootleg re-edits, etc. Enjoy!

The 'Mashed Potato' was a dance. The 'Popcorn' too. 'African Mashed Potato Popcorn' is a series of selections of all kinds of African tripy and groovy music from all over the world.
This seventh volume focuses on 2008 releases, with a rare 7 inch b-side from Bibi Tanga (France), a new track from Blank Zulu alias the Poets Of Rhythm on the fantastic Jazz&Milk label (Germany), an excerp from the new and timeless Ocote Soul Sounds album on ESL (USA), two oldies taken from two recent superb Nigeria old school compilations on Soundway (UK) and Strut (UK). You might also discover The Ottawa Bros. from Canada, before rejoicing to hear another Karl Hector & The Malcouns ethio-funk track (who'll be back with a new mix at the end of the month), and crying while listening to the incredible Beatles cover from 60s Ghanean singer Charlotte Dada.
