The Jivers is a production duo formed by the two French DJs/producers: Don Pascal and Fred Spider. Having not known each other before, their paths first crossed when both of them had moved to Barcelona in 2007. Soon they discovered their common love for deep and soulful music ranging from Jazz, Funk, Brazil to Nu-Jazz, Broken Beat or House. Their debut single Do What has already been featured on the second Jazz&Milk Breaks compilation and received amazing feedback and spins from DJs all over the globe and was brought to an even broader audience after being included on several compilations such as Saint Germain des Prés Café. Now the song is being re-released in form of the Do What EP including a brand new track called Move On Girl, again featuring the unmistakable voice of Anqui and remixes by DJ Moodz, Don Pascal and Fred Spider. The Jivers' music can be described as a dance-floor oriented fusion of Jazz elements with modern beat productions including the colorful and melodic vocals of Anqui.

Kidboy - Disparate EP
(12"/Digital) Jazz & Milk JM013, 2011-06-20

Kidboy is an upcoming producer and versatile musician based in Granada who is always searching for a balance between organic and electronic sounds. On his debut EP he teams up with vocalists such as Ohmega Watts, BluRum13 and Julio Cesar Rodriguez and a bunch of excellent jazz musicians including pianist Juan Galiardo. Bored by too many monotonous releases out there Kidboy wanted to present a diverse EP - with percussive Broken Beats, heavy basslines sounds and Latin instrumentation on the one hand and very mellow and jazzy Hip Hop tracks on the other! The EP starts off with Yo Me Voy De Aqui, a progressive DJ tune filled with organic latin samples and an enormous sub bassline - one truly for the dancefloor! Also on the latin tip, Changüí De Manteca features cuban singer Julio Cesar Rodriguez on vocals and percussion, Cesar's Salad pianist Jo Junghanss on keys and Andrew Linch on sax on top of an energetic Broken Beat. Eventually Kidboy takes you back into the 90's - the golden era of Hip Hop - with organic beats, jazz driven instrumentation and sophisticated rapping. The Culture features Ohmega Watts, a virtuoso rapper from the States who has released on Ubiquity and already worked with well-known acts such as Quantic, The Bamboos or Breakestra. A Moment To Think presents BluRum13, known for his project One Self with DJ Vadim and Yarah Bravo, who came to Granada to collaborate with Kidboy.

Fredericks Brown - Land Of Plenty - out on Jazz & Milk

Fredericks Brown
Fredericks Brown - Land Of Plenty
(12"/Digital) Jazz & Milk JM012, 2011-04-18

From the beautiful islands of New Zealand comes Fredericks Brown, the musical collaboration of vocalist Deva Mahal, keyboardist Steph Brown, and guitarist Michael Taylor. They have become renowned for their energetic live shows, rich harmonies, and beautifully crafted songs. After initially meeting on the festival circuit in New Zealand, where both were key players in their respective cities, Mahal and Brown moved independently to Brooklyn in 2007 where they met up again to form Fredericks Brown. In each other, they discovered a passion for storytelling; writing songs that combine imagery and narrative, which they interpret with a stunning blend of strength and intimacy that draws the listener close. Their music fuses the cultural heritage of both musicians; Deva, daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, draws on her rich soul and blues roots. Steph's sound is rooted in the organic Pacific sound of her native New Zealand. In 2009 the duo were joined by fellow New Zealander Michael Taylor, a sublime trumpet player and guitarist who had just graduated with a Masters from the Manhattan School of Music. Between them they have worked with Kanye West and Common, billed with such acts as De la Soul, Alice Russell, and Etta James, and have performed in theaters and clubs all around the world.

Bad Jazz Troupe - Looking For Jupiter
(12"/Digital) Jazz & Milk JM011, Dec 3rd 2010 - digital // Dec 13th 2010 - vinyl

You could probably live without bad Jazz, but you don't want to miss the Bad Jazz Troupe! Disregarding any kind of mindless rule - musical or otherwise - this reckless band revamps traditional rhythms and styles with modern production techniques. The Bad Jazz Troupe brings together raw Afrobeat, Jazz and Funk elements with the latest achievements of the electronic revolution in the world of music. The result sounds fresh and original and yet reminds one of those days when Jazz was still something unruly, naughty and rebellious. What the Bad Jazz Troupe seeks to accomplish, after all, is nothing but bad jazz in the best sense. The initiators of the project are two "bad" boys in otherwise quiet and peaceful Munich, Germany. Jerker Kluge, much sought-after bassist and composer (The Boogoos, The Hi-Fly Orchestra, Cesar's Salad, Radio Utopia), provides an invaluable musical basis with selected players of the local Jazz and Funk scene. Their organic sound is infused with energetic beats and hypnotic loops by Dj, producer and labelhead Dusty (Jazz & Milk). Already in 2009 he created a dancefloor hit by remixing the Afro-Funk of The Boogoos. Back then Jerker and Dusty decided that they will continue acting in collusion and so they founded the Bad Jazz Troupe...
