If you’re looking for the meaning of it all, better not try to decode this record: "Somewhat absurd... like, Pony", says Richard Dorfmeister about the conceptual side of Pony - No Hassle Versions. No meaning might have a meaning here. (...) Pony brings the more club-oriented face of Tosca to the forefront. To put it simply, Tosca, the project of the two Austrians, Richard Dofmeister and Rupert Huber, combines bass-heavy downbeat music with abstract soundscapes of found sounds and material from numerous studio sessions. When these recordings are handed over to remixers, everything changes; texture, dynamics, structures. (...) Grant Phabao is a Parisian dj- and producer-legend, ever since first droppping his frenchified Rubba-Dub styles on the Pro-Zak Trax Label at the end of the 90's. When he's not doing Reggae takes on Tosca, he's busy mixing some riddims with the latest Q-Tip or the likes. His version of Birthday sounds like something hot off the press from Compass Point Studios in Nassau.

Prepare to get chilled. No Hassle is the fifth full-length released by the Tosca duo, who are comprised of Richard Dorfmeister (of legendary trip-hoppers Kruder & Dorfmeister) and Austrian musician Rupert Huber. Whereas much of their previous material had Dorfmeister's dubby basslines up front, this album was developed as a more ambient project, combining submerged samples and live instrumentation to create a lush and immersive hour of music. "It's our personal reaction to everything," explains Richard. "To all things that are pressuring you from outside, or internally, from every angle. It's sort of the ideal position to achieve, and it's the same idea behind the music: to achieve an hour where you feel hassle free."

Note : Grant Phabao did a remix of Birthday which G-Stone/K7! will release later this year...

Peter Kruder (one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister) previously remixed DJ Hell's huge 'Listen To The Hiss' on Gigolo in 2005. The melodious 'Visions LTD' (his first 12" in a long time) is Kruder's first Gigolo maxi and will be released in March 09. It also features on DJ Hell's 'Eleven' compilation, released in March; Hell's yearly showcase of the sound of Gigolo. The title track 'Visions LTD' is a soundscape of dance floor dreams - soft yet progressive, a track that commands you to dance. 'Shine' kicks up the pace, balancing a heavy elasticized bottom end with some deep and dark synth action.

Un extrait du nouvel album de Tosca qui arrive très très prochainement dans nos bacs (et donc sur nos platines, étant donné la confiance aveugle qu'on leur accorde désormais)... Allez, soyons impatients, n'ayons l'air de rien et téléchargeons donc ce mp3 même si nous n'allons pas tarder à aller acheter le disque (vinyle!!). Tiens mais dites voir, ils tournent pop les viennois? C'est la vague electroclash qui fait des remous jusqu'à chez eux? Non mais pas loin: c'est le track qu'il vous faut pour en sortir, au contraire. Tosca deviendraient-ils un remède glacé contre les modes? En fait non: plus on écoute le morceau, plus il se réchauffe...
