Voilà un bel example de disque éducatif. En tant que compile mixée de Fela, c'est sympathique, mais pour le fan, ça n'a pas grand intérêt, vu que la grande majorité des tracks ici présents sont amputés d'une bonne moitié... Pour le néophyte, en revanche, l'histoire est plutôt bien ficelée. L'album est en effet un mix parcourant toute la carrière du roi de l'Afrobeat, réalisé par Chief XCel, moitié de Blackalicious, célèbre groupe de hip hop californien issu de la bande orbitant autour de Dj Shadow. Un groupe qui s'adresse donc à tout une frange de kids branchés hip hop, eux-même par forcément éduqués sur l'héritage musical et spirituel laissé par Fela... Le mix est minimal, avec justes quelques effets avec des bouts de voix de Fela (extraits de documentaires pas du tout rares), mais, dans la foulée de la compile "Red Hot & Riot" et de ce mix, le Chief nous promet une longue série de "remixes" de Fela. Si ça permet seulement de parler de Fela aux djeuns tous les ans, je vote pour!
