Following on from last year's dancefloor favourite Voodoo People, funk sensation 6ix Toys are back with the second single from their eponymous debut album. This time we've enlisted the help of one of our musical heroes, the incredible Greg Wilson. For those who don't know, Greg Wilson is a bona fide legend – one of the UK's pioneering DJs, (he still breaks out the Reel to Reel tapes for his sets), Greg was a resident at Manchester's Hacienda and the Wigan Pier, launching the nascent UK electro scene in the early 1980s. In recent times Greg has become synonymous with his disco re-edits, in the process winning legions of new fans. Greg's applied his magic touch to the album opener Paint The Toon (renamed as 'Sister of Soul, Brothers of Funk') adding wobbling bass and shimmering cymbals to create a discotinged dancefloor belter that's set to be the sound of the summer.

First Word Records return from the summer break with a brand new mix album celebrating five years of the label. Label bosses Andy H and Gilla have got together to pick their favourite tracks from the first half-decade, whittling it down to 16 brilliant tunes from the FW vaults. Kicking off with recent signings 6ix Toys and the infectious Giggle then moving swiftly into kidkanevil's Black Bug, the mix takes in all the label's biggest club tunes. With early highlights such as The Haggis Horns' Hot Damn! and kidkanevil's Kranium Rock (along with Diesler's bouncy re-rub), sitting alongside more recent efforts including 6ix Toys' huge cover of The Prodigy's Voodoo People and a couple of tracks from Homecut's highly-praised No Freedom Without Sacrifice album.

First Word are back with another banging release, this time from the first international signing to First Word, Souleance, live and direct from Paris. SOULEANCE is the result of the partnership between producer Fulgeance and DJ Soulist of What The Funk… Soulist and Fulgeance met in 2006 while performing and from that friendship the Souleance project was born: a mixture of Soulist's organic influences and the raw energy and production skill of Fulgeance. The EP covers many genres, taking in Hip Hop (Manana), Breaks (Le Monde and One Step) and even the funkier end of the 80s (Cool FM ). Already receiving radio support from Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio One (Manana is currently featured on his myspace player), the Le Monde EP is the first of many massive releases from thus talented duo.
