Linkwood - From The Vaults Part One - out on Prime Numbers

Linkwood From The Vaults Part One
Linkwood - From The Vaults Part One
(12") Prime Numbers/Fat City Recordings PN10, 2011-05-02

Firecracker's favourite son Linkwood is set to release his first solo endevaour since 2009's System, with a three track EP entitled From The Vaults Part 1 due out in May via Prime Numbers. Alongside House Of Traps and Fudge Fingas, the Edinburgh based producer is an integral part of the small but close knit Firecracker family, which pushes an eclectic sound that touches on everything from deep house and techno to disco, funk and soul. Aside from the aforementioned album, all of Linkwood's previous solo releases have come on sampler releases on Firecracker or Prime Numbers, the Manchester based imprint run by Trus'me. Last year saw remixes for Australian deep house wunderkid Tornado Wallace, plus a superb codeine-inspired refix of Appleblim and Al Tourette's "Mr Swishy”, but no original material. A brief post on the artist's Facebook page revealed the tracks were made between the years 1997 and 2011, and you can now stream clips of the three tracks via the Linkwood Soundcloud page. Our money, for what it's worth, is on the bleepy warehouse filth of Dirty Love. It has also been revealed that the second part in the From The Vaults series, also produced by Linkwood, will be out in the summer.

Fudge Fingas - Now About How - out on Prime Numbers

Fudge Fingas Now About How
Fudge Fingas - Now About How
(2xLP/CD/Digital) Prime Numbers PNLP02 /PNCD04, 2011-03-25

Here's the anticipated debut album from Gavin Sutherland aka Fudge Fingas. The Fudge Fingas discography, dating back almost a decade, is teasingly small with only a sprinkling of 10"s and 12"s to his name. Since 2004 the Edinburgh-based artist has been a mainstay of both Prime Numbers (Linkwood, Trus'me) and Firecracker Recordings, two UK labels that share a penchant for classically rooted electronic music. A talented multi-instrumentalist who purveys a style of deep house that is hard to pin down but very much his own, Fudge Fingas tracks are invariably emotive, impeccably produced affairs, demonstrating a keen knowledge of electronic music. Now About How is an album that fuses diverse styles, tipping it's cap to a world of sounds absorbed over the course of a lifetime. It is the sound of Fudge's childhood spent learning from his record loving family about the many wonders of 20th century recorded music, filtered through the classic house and techno template which was the soundtrack to his formative years. It's the sound of how we got to now, and where we might go from here.

Trus'me - In The Red - out on Fat City Recordings

Trusme In The Red
Trus'me - In The Red
(CD/2xLP/Digital) Fat City Recordings FCCD030/FCLP017, 2009-12-07

Fat City Recordings and Prime Numbers present the much-anticipated album In The Red by Trus’me. Since the release of his debut Working Nights in 2007, Trus’me has been doing just that, both DJ'ing in the best clubs around the world and putting in plenty of late night studio sessions alongside some heavyweight talent. The result has been a rapturous dancefloor response to his eclectic dj sets, an impressive roll call of quality remixes (inc. LCD Soundsystem, Amp Fiddler & Dabrye) and not least the production of his long-awaited second album In The Red. Working Nights is regularly held up as "one of the finest deep house and disco albums to come out of the U.K in years", but this was just the beginning of the Trus'me sound. Since then he has become increasingly adept and inventive at taking on the sound system roots of reggae, soul, and disco, blending them with house and techno,to create a hypnotically radical sound.

Linkwood - System - out on Prime Numbers

Linkwood System
Linkwood - System
(CD/3xLP/Digital) Prime Numbers PNLP01/PNCD01, 2009-10-09

After gaining high praise for his previous productions on both the Firecracker Recordings 10" series and Prime Numbers EPs including tracks such as Miles Away, R.I.P., Piece Of Mind & Lost Experiment, here's System, the debut album from Nick Moore aka Linkwood. System clearly shows the breadth of Linkwood's influences with a spectrum of styles confidently blended including 80's boogie, detroit techno, house and deep soul. From start to finish the album is brimming with the drama of integral, subterranean dance music. The album has been well engineered and produced, giving a distinctly powerful and affecting finish to all the tracks. Collaborating with Linkwood are Fudge Fingas, who features on keys on several tracks and the singer, comedian, entertainer Reggie Watts, who provides the vocal for Tears.

Trus'me - Still No Check? - out on Prime Numbers

Trusme Still No Check
Trus'me - Still No Check ?
(12"/Digital) Prime Numbers/Fat City Recordings PN01, 2009-01-17

A 4 track EP of now unavailable Trus'me productions... Starting off Good God is great house track produced with a strong hiphop style. It has saturday night & dancefloor written all over it, combining bassline / vocals from Teddy Pendergrass, with twisted keys and arrangements that tease and deliver in equal measures.Big favourite with three chairs who helped to create a demand for this underground production. Browns is deep and smooth downbeat production of spaced out cinematic hip hop, part Blade Runner, part Motor City. W.A.R Dub Deep beats, Detroitesque arrangements and a fantastic live feeling are the key ingredients for this massive dancefloor mover. It's one for all the old school New Jersey Deep fans out there. Stripped down, raw à la Kerri Chandler track, this is House made for a dark and sweaty dancefloor. Phone Spittin is a track that shows Trus'me is not all about the 4/4. Here he drops a heavy slab of hiphop. A big favourite with the Stones Throw crew, Trus'me combines heavybeats and fazed percussion, big strings, piano loops and deep moog bass to create a short but addictive and unusual piece.

Various - Prime Numbers PN 02
(CD/Digital) Prime Numbers PNCD02, 2008-10-31

The Prime Numbers label was initiated by Trus'me at the start of this year. This CD showcases the direction of the label and displays perfectly Trusme's DJ syle. Trus'me mixes and blends the Prime Numbers vinyl releases this year with some forthcoming and previously unreleased tracks from the Prime Numbers artist roster. All the artists have two tracks included in the mix. From Linkwood you'll hear the unreleased extended edit of their now classic R.I.P. taken from the initial Prime Numbers release and the Lost Experiment (2004), featured on the second EP. Fudge Fingas shows his breadth of style with the forthcoming Ghost House, a slice of unremitting and driving peak time house music alongside the more melodic and downbeat DinDins4Dada. Black Thoughts, the classic stripped down techno track from Reggie Dokes is accompanied by Release Yourself, a new production from the Detroit master and an addictive, hypnotic piece that persistently builds in mood and direction. Discreet Unit are featured with their scratchy techno funk of Written In Our Nature together with the forthcoming Unit, a meaty and energetic production with hefty bass and drums harking back to early 90's Todd Terry productions. Last but not least Trus'me brings the dub of the highly acclaimed W.A.R., the original of which was included on his debut album Working Nights and Good God a track that fuses house , hiphop and funk stylings to tremendous effect.

Trus'me - Working Night$ - out on Fat City Recordings

Trusme Working Nights
Trus'me - Working Night$
(CD/2xLP/Digital) Fat City Recordings FCCD026/FCLP015, 2007-11-16

Working Nights is the debut album from Manchester's latest production prodigy Trus'me. This 8 track set (plus bonus 'live mix' track 12:12 - CD only) features three of the hard to find Love4Music black label 12"s that shot Trus'me to notoriety in early 2007, garnering massive support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Karizma, Carl Craig, Benji B, Mad Mats, Jazzanova, Mr Scruff and many many more... His brief carrer has already seen DJ visits to New York, Chicago, Detroit, Vienna, Amsterdam and Belgium as well as guest spots at Manchester institutions Electric Chair and Friends & Family. He has recenntly had an exclusive track commissioned for Gilles Peterson's In The House compilation on Defected and remixes for LCD Soundsystem, Jazzanova and Tru Thoughts are all pending in 2008... The Trus'me sound references the man's extensive record collection bringing to life decades of funk soul and jazz all with a razor sharp contemporary twist and an inherently Mancunian understanding of basement soul music.... Moodymann comparisons abound but Trus'me's sound is all his own. Expect a bright future from this producer including work with Paul Randolph, Linkwood Family and the mighty Amp Fiddler in the next 12 months... Working Nights contains five previously unreleased gems alongside firm favourites such as W.A.R., At the Disco and a new version of the house behemoth Nards, entitled Narda.
