Ensemble Du Verre - The Contemporary Cowboy - out on Batterie Records

Ensemble Du Verre The Contemporary Cowboy
Ensemble Du Verre - The Contemporary Cowboy
(CD/Digital) Batterie 015, 2011-10-07

Sönke Düwer, who has led the Ensemble since 2003, has put together a small group of musicians previously unrelated to the Ensemble Du Verre. Thanks to the British tenor sax player Penrose Feast the record has a strong jazzy touch and a big melodic diversity. Double bass player Marc Muellbauer from Berlin added a warm deep sound and a very special energy. With his additional creative beats and sounds drummer Oliver Sonntag from Lübeck plays an important role in the record's impressive instrumental sound. The contribution of Eden singer and the ensemble's vocal partner for many years, Ute Lorenzen, is an unearhty choir on Seven Miles Down, while guitar player Lothar Müller from Hamburg has added an ultra modern western guitar on All Hat And No Cuttle. This album feels like the successor of the prize-winning CD Sanctuary For Animals and is a manifestation of the uniqueness and the independence of the composer, musician and producer, Sönke Düwer, who not only has played the drums but also all keyboards, guitars, electronics and percussion. The Contemporary Cowboy, out on October 7th on Batterie, will be release No 15 since the label was founded in 2008. The new E.D.V. band will play several concerts beginning with the Überjazz Festival on the last Octoberweekend at Kampnagel in Hamburg.

(Digital) Batterie 013, 2011-05-20

With Short Story About Walt Ensemble Du Verre presents the second single of the upcoming album The Contemporary Cowboy (to be released in September 2011). With this track, mastermind and multi instrumentalist Soenke Duewer passionately pleads for the combination of different musical ingredients. In several sessions with himself he created a melting pot of his unique drum playing, an intense use of various electronica and acoustic guitar, representing Duewer's approach in The Contemporary Cowboy. In addition A Green Meadow is back with the second remix for Batterie. With his turbulent dubstep version he not only spins the original further but lifts it on a pulsing club level. This second presentation rises the excitement for the fourth Ensemble Du Verre album and lets the listener stay tuned...

Soenke Duewer's cinematic jazz project, Ensemble du Verre, is back with brand new line-up and single, Emily's Poem, which will be followed by a full length album, A Green Meadow, to be released in May. The label is a small one from Hamburg, Germany, called Batterie, and we've been supporting them for a few years now.

This new single navigates in Bonobo or Cinematic Orchestra's waters of seductive and fresh lounge jazz electronics, with a leftfield remix by Netherlands producers/DJs Rupert & Mennert. A joyful jazz release leaving us wanting for more. Someone should definitively book this band for a few gigs in France!

Versions, Vibes & Remixes is CD series. Energie Du Verre got the ball rolling in 2009. And now it's time for Ensemble Du Verre – the second album of the series is released August 20, 2010. By the end of 2009, I finally succeeded in bringing the master rights for E.D.V.'s first two albums Facing. Transparent (SPV 2004) and Sing Me Something (SPV 2005) back home. It had been a long and hard struggle with the record company's insolvency administrator. To celebrate this victory, I decided to re-release this music on my own label Batterie. But that was just the start...
