Big Pimp Jones - 21st Century Blaxploitation Vol.3

Big Pimp Jones - 21st Century Blaxploitation Vol.3 (MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com) 2011-05-05 Philadelphia's Big Pimp Jones have become quite big on the 21st Blaxploitation tip, with their two funky soundtracks to Blaxploitation movies that dont exist. They loved our previous mixes on the same theme (vol.1 and vol.2) - "Those first two volumes are super-dope, we are fans of your stuff as well, that's really nice work on the Black Cat mixtape. I'd be honored to throw a volume 3 together!" said Keith Foster from Big Pimp Jones. His mix is fun & funky, keeping the 21st century...

Paris DJs Soundsystem & Musiques Impures present Adrian Quesada's Spring Reverb (MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com and MusiquesImpures.com) 2011-04-13 The Echocentrics is a new project of psychedelic, cinematic and dusty soul produced by Adrian Quesada of Brownout/Ocote Soul Sounds/Grupo Fantasma fame. Loads of spring reverb, psyched out farfisa organs and heavy drums are accented by beautiful vocals sung in English, Spanish and Portuguese by Tita Lima from Brazil and Natalia Clavier from Argentina. The album is out on Ubiquity Records. Grant Phabao, without any doubt the greatest reggae...

Brownout - Aguilas and Cobras - Remixed and Regrooved
(Download/limited CD) Six Degrees Records, 2010-12-07

Brownout, the Psychedelic Latin Funk alter ego of Grupo Fantasma, heated up dance-floors and critic's lists around the world with last year's Aguilas & Cobras record. The group's trademark soulful beats, psychedelic guitar excursions, tough grooves and ultra-tight horn arrangements have now been handed over to a dream team of remixers from the electronic dance, funk, cumbia & nu-groove scene, resulting in Aguilas & Cobras Remixed & Re-Grooved. Remixers include J Boogie, The Mexican Dubwiser, Tal M. Klein, Kokolo's Ray Lugo, Second Sky & Thomas Blondet, Jeremy Sole, Senor Oz, Afrolicious, Anthony Mansfield, Grant Phabao & CaZ.

Limited Edition CD: The CD version of Brownout's Aguilas & Cobras Remixed and Regrooved is now available as a hand stamped and numbered limited edition release (100 copies only!), available at the Six Degrees Shop and at Brownout live shows.

Brownout - Aguilas and Cobras

Brownout Aguilas and Cobras
Brownout - Aguilas and Cobras
(CD) Six Degrees Records SDR1162, 2009-09-15

Adrian Quesada is a busy man. When he’s not performing psychedelic salsa jams with Grammy-nominated Austin outfit Grupo Fantasma or playing backing-guitar for Prince (yes, the artist once again known as Prince), he and his fellow Fantasma-mates are bringing the Latin-funk with critically-acclaimed Brownout and the more laidback but no-less-funky Ocote Soul Sounds. The new Brownout record, Aguilas and Cobras (Eagles & Cobras) features their trademark "hardcore latin funk" coupled with generous amounts of psychedelic experimentation and anchored by driving latin percussion and lots of electric guitar interplay. This crew of musicians has deftly avoided the "retro" and "revival" tags with pride, never falling into generic cookie-cutter funk mold. Aguilas and Cobras continues to carry the afro-latin funk torch into the future by creating fresh grooves which are timeless, honest and filled with their own unique vibe.

Grant Phabao and Djouls - 21st Century Afro Vol.6

Grant Phabao and Djouls - 21st Century Afro Vol.6 (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-03-25 This 6th mix in our series of 'current Afro music from all over the world' is focused on the funk anglo-saxon musicians kinda always put back into afro-beat. The Souljazz Orchestra, Kaleta & Zozo Afrobeat, The Soul Hustlers, Brownout, Baby Charles, The Budos Band, The New Mastersounds, Midnight Lab Band... You might not know all these bands - yet. For starters, Canadian afro-funk outfit The Souljazz Orchestra opens the mix with a splendid instrumental, 'State Terrorism', nearly as...

Paris DJs Soundsystem Latin Dance Party

Paris DJs Soundsystem - Latin Dance Party

Paris DJs Soundstem - Latin Dance Party (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-02-11 What started as a 21st Century Latin selection ended like this: latin + dance = party! As usual, we tried to dig deep into our (latin) stacks, bringing a rare Michael Ray (from the Sun Ra Arkestra) track from 10 years ago featuring a blistering solo from Trey Anastasio (Phish), a killer Irakere cover from Grupo Fantasma, some nice bootie business from Me&You (Tru Thoughts), a jazz stormer from The Hi-Fly Orchestra... and many more supergroovy latin goodies! [comment faire?/how to?]...
