One year ago German wizards Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer & Paul Frick (aka Brandt Brauer & Frick) published an impressive acoustic-electro album called You Make Me Real (!K7 Records). Somewhere between Steve Reich, John Cage, drum and bass and deep house, Brandt Brauer & Frick have created a unique sound, sophisticated and danceable, made only with acoustic and classical instruments. But this music played at three in studio was meant to get a more ambitious treatment on stage with a ten-piece ensemble, as Paul Frick revealed in our interview. And now they are back with a perfect rendition of this on their new release, The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble's Mr. Machine (!K7 Records). New versions of You Make Me Real are featured, as well as great covers (Emika's Pretend with the new Ninja Tune's Berlin-based sensation as a guest vocalist, and a version of Agnes Obel's On Powdered Ground) for the most hypnotic record of 2011.

No-computer electro German trio Brandt Brauer & Frick has released a new album (Mr. Machine, !K7 Records), just one year after their debut record You Make Me Real, and this follow-up is a must-have for both hypnotic groove addicts and sophisticated experimental music lovers. Our fellow interviewer Nicolas Ragonneau is an early fan of the band since he made this interview of Paul Frick in October last year.
