The mighty Juice Aleem returns with a new single packed with remixes, re-works and general goodness from his debut album, Jerusalaam Come, one of iTunes' hip hop albums of the year, a Record of the Week in The Independent and a must-have for any self-respecting lover of MC-power.

Jammer - Party Animal

Jammer - Party Animal
(Download) Big Dada BDDNL157, 2010-01-11

At last the Murkle Man returns and he's JUMPING. Jammer has been a fixture, pioneer and founding father of the Grime scene since its inception. Now signed to Big Dada Recordings, the Leytonstone MC and producer has teamed up with Toddla T and the resulting track is pure energy! A track set to lay waste to Christmas office parties, hen nights, stag nights, pub piss-ups, underground clubs, children's tea parties, old folks' home knees ups and so-fly hipster gatherings, Party Animal shows Jammer at his least serious, his most relaxed and funny. It's a tune solely about having fun and Jahmek Power is having it large. With remixes from Boy Better Know (featuring JME, C-Gritz and Frisco) plus a whole series of dancefloor re-rubs from the hot-as-hell Hardhouse Banton, this is just the first small step which will lead up to the release of Jammer's debut album on Big Dada in May 2010.

Thunderheist return with LBG - just about the most fun you could have - ever - whilst discussing racial and gender stereotyping. Little Booty Girl sees producer hitting the low slung electronic groove about as hard as anywhere on the duo's superb eponymous debut while Isis gives mad love to all her sisters with a compact tush. But not content with merely displaying their own bottom end Grahm and Isis have pulled in a group of stunning remixes.

Thavius Beck - Go Away

Thavius Beck - Go Away
(Download) Big Dada BDDNL156, 2009-10-26

Go/Away is the first single from Thavius Beck's first solo album for Big Dada, but he's a name you should already know. Beck hooks up a trademark beat which bounces like a bomb on a trampoline whilst coming at the listener with a whole choir of disembodied voices and enough electronic squelch for the most demanding tech-head. Over it, Beck shows his skills as a lyricist, his calm, well-modulated, warm voice belying the anger and thoughtfulness of his lyrics. Away, runs euphoric vocal pads up against orchestral stabs and more lyrical science. Remix duties for the two tunes are dealt with by Flying Lotus and Offshore. A true renaissance man of hip hop, Thavius Beck sees no musical boundaries other than the ones he has already left behind.

Thavius Beck - Dialogue

Thavius Beck Dialogue
Thavius Beck - Dialogue
(CD/Download) Big Dada BDCD151/BDDNL151, 2009-10-12

On Dialogue, his third full-length for Mush Records [and first for Big Dada], Thavius Beck continues to push the boundaries of hip-hop beatmaking, grounding lo-fi digital drum kits in icy layers of synths and sliced up samples. Fresh off of production duties on Saul Williams' Niggy Tardust album with Trent Reznor, Beck's work on Dialogue is razor sharp. This release also finds Thavius spending more time in front of the mic, delivering the type of rhymes that originally gained him notoriety as a member of Global Phlowtations. The consummate iconoclast, Beck cleverly critiques many of America's ills with a dry, satirical wit that never falls into preachiness. With each passing release, Thavius Beck continues to prove that the only musical boundaries he sees are ones he has already left behind. (Source : mushrecords.com)

The first full single from APC's eagerly awaited comeback album, Fluorescent Black, Volcano is the sound of a group not only at their urgent, exploratory best, but also one which knows their funk. Glitchy, squelchy and driving, the tune comes on like the bastard offspring of Rick James and Aphex Twin, imagined as only APC can. And as ever, M. Sayyid, Beans and High Priest spit science, but the kind of science which makes the beat bump even harder. Remix duties are taken care of by the one-and-only Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet. Hebden ties vinyl static and chimes together with a clipped beat which makes the whole thing snap. Melancholic and beautiful, it's a fantastic reimagining.

Speech Debelle - Spinnin'
(Download) Big Dada BDDNL152, 2009-09-14

The Mercury-nominated Speech Debelle returns with Spinnin', the purest pop moment from her widely acclaimed debut album, Speech Therapy. Produced by Tunng mainman Mike Lindsay, Spinnin' is a hugely catchy singalong of a tune, a feelgood route into the sometimes dark and emotional world of Ms Debelle. That's not to say the girl sacrifices any of her lyrical intelligence. Her words are packed with barbed one-liners, clever asides and great imagery. The press has been quick to proclaim her a star in the making and on Spinnin' she takes the opportunity to shine.
