After producing albums and hit singles with Studio One's legends The Lone Ranger, Carlton Livingston, The Jays, The Silvertones, Parisian dubmeister Grant Phabao was given the Jamaican stamp of approval of "the producer who brings back the original Lee Perry and King Tubby sounds with a modern twist". Phabao expanded his output with roots jamaican remixes for artists such as Alice Russell, Nostalgia 77 or Quantic (Tru Thoughts), Ty (Big Dada), George Clinton… and spectacular mashups & bootlegs: Cee-Lo, Q-Tip, Roots Manuva, Erykah Badu, Jurassic 5, Marvin Gaye, among others, were...

Grant Phabao & Djouls - Ninja Tune - 20 Years of Remixes & Re-interpretations (MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2010-08-10 Lots of stuff are happening for the celebration of the last 20 years of musical activism from the english label Ninja Tune. A huge boxset is on its way for september, with LOTS of new music. There are parties coming up everywhere, and french magazine Trax has just released a special (Ninja Tune 20 Ans...), for which I've been asked to write 3 articles. The first one is about 20 of the rarest pieces of wax released by the label. The second is a selection of 20...

Antipop Consortium - Fluorescent Black
(CD/Download/2xLP/Limited CD) Big Dada BD150/BDCD150X/BDDNL150/BDCD150 CD, 2009-09-28
Earl Blaize visited us this week in Paris, we had the opportunity to listen to this new deep sonic marvel and now can't wait to hear the finished mastered version. Killer stuff in the vein of what they played on the latest tour early 2009! Pure Antipop Consortium vibe, fans won't be disappointed. Check the info about this upcoming mix that the band is supposed to cook for Paris DJs this summer...

Antipop Consortium - Volcano
(Download) Big Dada BDDNL153, 2009-09-21
The first full single from APC's eagerly awaited comeback album, Fluorescent Black, Volcano is the sound of a group not only at their urgent, exploratory best, but also one which knows their funk. Glitchy, squelchy and driving, the tune comes on like the bastard offspring of Rick James and Aphex Twin, imagined as only APC can. And as ever, M. Sayyid, Beans and High Priest spit science, but the kind of science which makes the beat bump even harder. Remix duties are taken care of by the one-and-only Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet. Hebden ties vinyl static and chimes together with a clipped beat which makes the whole thing snap. Melancholic and beautiful, it's a fantastic reimagining.

Antipop Consortium - Apparently
(Promo CD/Free MP3 Download) Big Dada BDCD148P, 2009-06-23
The mighty Anti-Pop Consortium return to the fray with a free download track from their forthcoming album, Fluorescent Black, a seventeen track monster opus that is set to be one of the records of the year. Apparently itself is classic APC - crunching robot-funk combined with the three distinct voices and flows of Beans, Priest and M.Sayyid. By turns funny, dense, allusive, clever and just devastatingly fresh, this is a group reminding us of their collective strength. Check it now and get all in a tizzy thinking about the album and to follow…
Anti-Pop Consortium new album and mix for ParisDJs coming soon

Anti-Pop Consortium - sign to Big Dada Recordings
Antipop Consortium (M. Sayyid, High Priest, Beans, Earl Blaize) will be back with a new album called "Fluorescent Black" to be released on Big Dada Recordings on September, 9th 2009. We met with the band at the beginning of the year when they came to play in France (cool and intense show, really nice guys) and Earl Blaize is supposed to do a special mix for ParisDJs before the summer tour. "This is my objective, sir. I am summoning the powers of the universe to help me to achieve this goal. Summon your own forces to assist me as well!" says Earl... (Artwork shown here is for the upcoming mix).
