At the end of the day, this future classic was done and everything's in there: Fela-inspired vocals from the all-mighty Amayo, phat afro-broken beat, sweat horns and chorus vocals and the magic Doctor's touch on the production... Last news I got from Martin was when he sent me the latest Ocote Soul Sounds 12 inch at the beginning of the year. He was enthousiastic about doing an exclusive mix for Paris DJs. I now there's a new Antibalas album to be recorded next month (June 2009) so I guess we should hear from him in July... Update August 2009 - Martin came to visit us in Paris and did collaboration work with Grant Phabao, Doctor L and Loik Dury respectively. He should be back in Europe touring with Ocote Soul Sounds early 2010. And he'll be back soon for a 30mn mix of exclusive Antibalas and Ocote Soul Sounds rarities! Yeepaa!! (Djouls)

The Menahan Street Band challenges the Budos Band to a duel with The Wolf, the fast-paced ethio tinged number that has recently served as the opening song of their on-stage appearances. The song evokes unique imagery in the mind - part sun-drenched ethiopian desert, part frozen northern tundra. This song is dedicated to Joe 'The Wolf' Colgan for building the new Dunham Studios.Without telling Michels and Movshon, Brenneck put a little something special in their gin and tonics.
