Weird Al Yankovic - Dare To Be Stupid

dare to be stupid
'Weird Al' Yankovic - "Dare To Be Stupid"
(Scotti Bros, 5 Juin 1985)

"This is the life" est rigolote, mais c'est "Like a surgeon" la perle, une parodie de "Like a virgin" extraordinaire. C'est vrai, ce n'est pas facile la vie d'un nouveau chirurgien, il faut en parler ('Cutting for the very first time'). On trouve aussi sur cet album une de ses meilleurs compos, dont les Nuls, fans, avaient présenté la vidéo dans leur "Nuit la plus Nuls" : "One more minute", qui inclus 'I'd rather clean all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with my tongue, than spend one more minute with you' et finit par 'I'd rather rip my hands right out of my ribcage with my bare hands and throw it on the floor and stomp on it till' I die… than spend one more minute with you'. "I want a new duck", parodie de "I want a new drug", de Huey Lewis & the News, très bien interprétée, a tout de même aussi mal vieilli que l'originale; "Dare to be stupid" l'est complètement, et c'est ça qui est bien, et "Hooked on polkas", le medley incontournable, rassemble des extraits, entre autres, de "What's love got to do with it" (Tina Turner), "Owner of a lonely heart" (Yes), "Footloose (Kenny Loggins), "The Reflex" (Duran Duran) ou "Relax" (Frankie goes To Hollywood). Ajoutez-y "George of the jungle", un "Slime creatures from Mars" et surtout "Girls just want to have lunch" (parodie de Cindy Lauper) et vous avez là un premier incontournable dans la vaste discographie du Weird.
