Though long out of print, this collection on the sadly now-defunct Original Music label is definitely worth tracking down. It's not an "afrobeat" collection, per se, but a couple of tunes by Prof. Y.S. & His B.B. Band have a familiar, groovalicious James Brown-ish feel to them, and Charlotte Dada's odd, interminable version of the Beatles song "Don't Let Me Down," accompanied by clanking, tinkly traditional African percussion played on metallic objects, is a weird and wonderful collision of cultures which should appeal as well. There are also a couple of surf-garage-ish rock tunes from the early '60s which are a style of African pop not often heard in the West -- I'd love it if someone could put out a collection of this kind of music as well!!
