Press Release :
Having cemented a reputation with DJs across the land over the last three years for releasing the finest quality funk and hip hop releases on vinyl from its fledgling roster of self-nurtured talent, Bristol's Leisure Recordings is now ready to come of age and step into the modern age with the release of its first compact disc long-player. By harnessing the power of this modern technology, the boffins at the Leisure Laboratories hope they have finally found a medium to reach the masses of the music buying public to provide them with what has been scientifically proven as the perfect soundtrack to any barbecue (or other outdoor, meat-related gathering).

The compilation features the full spectrum of talent from the label, including the Leisure Allstars, Mr Benn, The Bodybeard Brothers and Parker, and is a perfect introduction to what the label has achieved in its short history. Tracks featured on the release include the hip-hop, reggae, charleston of 'Get Your Hands In The Air' by the Leisure Allstars, a track that was recently chosen by Nightmares On Wax for their 'My Definition' compilation, as well as 'Sugar Coated' by Parker, recently snapped up for an album by Cut la Roc's Rocstar Recordings. Other tracks on the album have previously been treated to the remix attentions of such leading lights in the scene as Martin Brew, J Star, Dr Rubberfunk, Blackgrass and Boca45.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
