Case 358 - With the European funked up Jazz beats! Mikkas and Lars, fine Nordic specimens- from Norway and Denmark produced this track especially for Mr. Jacques Laverne. The track has a downbeat fluffy friendly vibe perfect for warming any icy fjord.
French Moment - And so another trip across the North Sea resulted in a chance meeting with the one they call Groover- he had a wonderful French Moment and ooh la la we might well have a bit of a dancefloor mover! Groover aka Jeppe Kaltoft has a secret passion for jazz and will reveal all in the future- but here we have a house groove for starters on JLR.
The Old Days - Finally the 777 machine was activated after the secret codeword was whispered in Stockport. We dip into the JLR archives and give The Old Days by Monochrome a fatter, chunkier sound. The original was on JLR 002 on the folklore & fairytale release and was written by Ian Carten, produced by Martin Desaii (J-Walk) and beated by the phreak Jason Holmes.

About Ben Horn
Ben Horn is the DJ Mikkas from Norway and the Danish DJ Lars B. Between them they have been DJ'ing for more than three decades.
The pair first met, and teamed up, while they were both playing at an electronic festival in the midst of a Swedish forest With Mikkas hooked on breakbeats and Lars being a sucker for jazz, and both of them producing tracks on their own, teaming up just felt natural.
The duo started their producing career in May 2001, in a somewhat odd fashion: they composed music for the ballet "Off the record". This was the first time producers of electronic music were let in to the "sacred" world of the Royal ballet. It was a strange experience watching classical trained ballet dancers performing to two step, electronica and big beat rhythms, in front of the Danish queen.
Lars and Mikkas soon found themselves with a production stretching all the way from chilled slick downbeat and jazzy funky breakbeats, to weird electronica and hard new skool breaks. The variety off music also required a number off aliases, and releases on different labels.
This resulted in the side projects "Miss Norway", that works as the duos outlet for weird experimental electronica, "Breather", witch is industrial breakbeats, and "Fork", witch is the name used for chilled house tracks, released on the label "Music for dreams". Mikkas and Lars kept their main project, Ben Horn, for the more funky vibes, everything from latinbreaks/ nu jazz on "Voodoo recordings", blaxploitation big beats on the German label "Gene poole", and smooth downbeats on "Jacques Laverne Records"..

Beatphreak as you will hear, are self proclaimed junkies for all that is breaks, beats and soul. They produce a mixture of turntablism, beats, soul and funk along with their eclectic DJ sets, Beatphreak are set to cause a stir in the not to distant future. Digging in the crates of hip hop and funks rich history to produce jaw dropping, head nodding, booty shakin‚ sets, Beatphreak are primed and ready for action.
The latest addition to the Beatphreak stable is Laura,a massive vocal talent of the highest calibre, not to be ignored. She inputs the uplifting soulful vocals to the Beatphreak equation, with the sonic ability to lift you out of any blues. At just nineteen she is an accomplished songwriter and sensational live performer, always making a huge impact on stage.A regular and favourite at Fat City's Friends & Family Club nights in Manchester,Beatphreak are definitely a force to be reckoned with!
With their busy schedules the team are currently trying to grab as much time in the studio as possible, putting the finishing touches to their long awaited album.

About Groover
The Copenhagen based composer and artist 'Groover' has produced electronic music since 1996. His musical background covers a wide range of genres but his focus is on crossovers of breakbeat, drum'n'bass, house and lounge but first of all he puts no musical limit to his music.
In 2000 Groover reached the top of the Danish National Radio's chart for upcoming artists and had his first release out same year.
