Tommy Guerrero fait plutôt habituellement dans le laidback. Le blues soul-funk downtempo-isant. "Rusty Gears, Lonely Years", extrait du "Jukin Collector EP" de 2001 en est un bon exemple. L'album sorti l'an passé, "Soul Food Taqueria", est de la même veine, relaxante et hypnotisante comme un trip au bord de l'eau, mais cette fois l'extrait présenté ("Getting It Together") n'en est peut-être pas le meilleur exemple. En effet Lyrics Born de la troupe Quannum (Dj Shadow & co.) vient en guest chanter et rapper sur ce morceau à dominance jazz débordant de breakbeats funk et disons plutôt qu'il s'agit du single MP3 pour déclancher l'acte d'achat... Heureusement au final ça fait deux bonnes raisons de découvrir l'atmosphère psychedelic soul jazz 70's de la musique de Tommy guerrero.
