The Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks compilation is the result of the cooperation between the German label Das Modular and Nippon Connection, the largest Japanese film festival in Europe. Two Japanese Traditionals played by the Shingetsu Ensemble were recorded by Das Modular and then re-interpreted by renowned remixers from all over the world. The triple CD-box features the resulting 28 electronic re-interpretations plus the Japanese Originals. Each track was exclusively produced for the project. The Compilation consistently connects a wide range of electronic music styles such as House, Electronic Jazz, Detroit Techno, Elektronika, Asian Lounge, Drum and Bass and instrumental Hip-Hop.
To ensure a musical flow the three CDs are categorized as follows: - CD1: Kigen (Japanese for origin)
- CD2: Shikake (Japanese for attack)
- CD3: Moku So (Japanese for meditation)
