Press Release :
This is Tru Thoughts first digital download only release.

Razrbalde is a heavy funk classic by The Broken Keys who are Ben Lamdin from Nostalgia 77 and Nathaniel from Natural Self.

The two worlds of Nostalgia 77 & Natural Self first coincided at a young age when through a fondness of similar musical tastes they got together to release their first 7" single 'Heavy Heavy', released on Breakin Bread, which further developed into a full album ('Gravity' - released on Tru-Thoughts in 2006).

Undoubtedly the sound of The Broken Keys is a world away from that of Nostalgia 77 and has been a great opportunity fir Ben Lamdin to stretch his musical wings and work with different influences along side fellow producer/vocalist Nathaniel Pearn to create this intensely stunning mix of jazz/funk/hip hop and rock.

The aural diversity between 'Razorblade' and 'Redlight' shows the fusion of musical tastes that make up The Broken Keys sound. 'Razorblade' has a more aggressive approach, a groove driven jazz/rock track fuelled from raw-grittiness (a sound that has been described as 'an angry preacher promoting a scorched earth policy'). Then further build rolling snare drums and wah induced guitar licks on a thick, crunchy bass line expressed with a lavish 70's funk eloquence and your pretty much there!

This leads onto the more subtle, gentile, soulful lament, which is 'Redlight'. Beautiful, melodic and once again showing off the musical range/talent contained within The Broken Kes not just musically and vocally but also through their tight, vintage hip hop production techniques.
