Le buffet est géant! Du gospel backbeat de Dan Zimmerman ("Either Or") aux ritournelles psychédéliques, façon Muppet Show sous Hélium avec Daniel Johsnton comme invité, de Danielson Famile ("Cutest Lil' Dragon"), en passant par les opéras-Casio de Half Handed Cloud ("To Love Like The Father & Son Love Each Other", "We're Very Greatly Loved") ou le troubadour qui a commis un tube adopté par la Papemobile, Lenny Smith ("I Saw a Mighty Angel"), la country-bourrée de The Singing Mechanic ("Dying to be Social"), les étrangetés hiphopisantes (ou pas) de Soul-Junk ("3 Facinating Smells", "2 Corinth", "Hogging All the Islands") ou le projet solo de l'ex-16 Horsepower, Wovenhand ("My Russia", "Woven Hand")... on ne peut que se dire que tout va bien. Si l'art-pop underground américain regroupe ainsi aujourd'hui tant d'enfants de Frank Zappa et de Brian Wilson, et d'autres encore plus allumés, alors le paysage pop français sera des plus ensoleillés d'ici une petite dizaine d'année... le temps moyen que le phénomène arrive jusqu'à nos côtes. Enfin, ça c'était vrai jusqu'à l'avènement d'internet! Car aujourd'hui, en un clic, on découvre facilement le génie de Sufjan Stevens (cf. ci-dessus), puis en un autre petit cliquounet, tous ses collègues du label Sounds Familyre. Youpla boum!
