Skerik est tout bonnement incroyable. Ce joueur de saxophone (ténor et baryton) a officié dans un nombre incalculable de groupes, au rang desquels citons Garage A Trois, Critters Buggin', Ponga, Crack Sabbath, Tuatara ou Black Frames, la liste étant beaucoup plus longue que çela.... Il sort aujourd'hui (enfin) son premier album sous son nom, accompagné de Joe Doria (orgue Hammond), John Wicks (batterie), Steve Moore (trombone et piano électrique Wurlitzer), Hans Tueber (sax alto et flute), Dave Carter (trompette), Craig Flory (saw baryton), tous musiciens émérites de Seattle. L'album, enregistré dans des conditions live, fusionne hiphop, funk de la Nouvelle Orléans, bebop... et métal (!), jouant autant sur l'harmonie que sur le groove et l'improvisation. Le track offert, "Morphine", est celui qui clôt l'album. Il part métal, justement, puis enchaîne vite sur un blues en mode mineur, qui s'énerve puis revient à ses fondamentaux. Un bon résumé de l'album.
