Press Release :
'Rup On Zebra' is the full-length album follow up, to the 'Rup On Zebra' EP which dropped late 2006 on Zebra Traffic Records. The EP acquired support not only from the traditional UK hip hop horde, but also from further a field... gaining backing from some more unlikely musical quarters... If Music (London), Nik Weston (Samurai FM), Simon S (Futuristica Music) & Boca 45, and also picking up radio plays on foreign shores (France, Austria, Germany, and Israel!).
Musically, 'Rup On Zebra' is a satisfying mix of styles. Ranging from the more high energy club-based cuts like Rollin', through to a more introspective sound heard on Step & Do You Know, Rup's strength lies in his honesty. His finely honed lyrical patterns, unique flow and pre-occupation with the wilderness, offer an excitingly unguarded glimpse into the man's personality. His metaphors and similes manage to blend the day-to-day routines in South London with a refreshing zest for life outside of our capital. He is content to drop the staple hip-hop braggadocio - but he is equally at home being self-effacing and examining his regular tendency for over-excess, all of which instils his music with that undeniable and appealing honesty.
