Press Release :
Sydney producer Rephrase (aka Jaime Olsen) returns with the 2nd single taken from his latest album "Little Victories", to be released on his own Vinyl imprint Rephrase Music. After the success of his last single ‘Boulevard/Good Feelin’ on Knowfoowl records, which came heavily supported by Mo Horizons and Kraak & Smaak, Rephrase invites Canadian MC Vandal to the mic for a powerful party breaks anthem dissing the drudgery of the paper chase.

Through the last 10 months, Jaime Olsen has been recording and collaborating with artists across the world, from New York dancehall toaster Negus Shabaka to local songstress Merenia and his release resume is about to need a few more pages with remixes coming out in the next few months for Funk Weapons (USA), Jack To Phono (UK) and Innvision (Austria) to name a few. Future singles will cover a plethora of genres with Geriba(Germany), K Bonus(Belguim), Ed Royal cohort DJ Enne(Austria) and locals Edseven and Noodles & Noel Boogie joining an A-list team of remixers and collaborators involved with the album and impending 2CD remix project.

Chase Your Tail is the first of several vocal collaborations to be found on Little Victories, a watershed record for the Australian dance music scene. Encompassing House, Hip-Hop, Big Band Breaks, Afro inspired Bruk/Broken Beat, Nu Jazz, deep chill and even a floor filling interpretation of chain gang Blues, the album grooms Rephrase to join peers overseas like Fort Knox Five and Dublex Inc.

Washington DCs All Good Funk Alliance provide the remix here and do not miss on their swing. With a punchy bassline and full of big horns, Chase Your Tail is a certified bomb tune for DJs. On the B side of the Chase Your Tail 12” is a Funk driven Break called “Funky Little So & So”. This track features the talents of Noel Boogie on cuts. His unique ability to find and scratch a sample is truly mind blowing as demonstrated here. The Basement Freaks remix takes it too another level that will be a certain favourite for any B-Boy or B-Girl.

Venezuela 70 - Cosmic Visions Of A Latin American Earth - Venezuelan Experimental Rock In The 1970s (CD/2LP, Soul Jazz, 2016)

English label Soul Jazz Records released this summer a collection of experimental rock recorded in Venezuela in the 1970s, at a time when oil was flowing in abundance and consequently culture rather well subsidized. However, this music had never really got out of the country until now, it's really a...
