Red Astaire - Move Yo Ass
(12") Homegrown Records (Sweden) HOMEGROWN005, 2006-12-18

Review :
It's official, I'm now a big fan of Freddie Cruger a.k.a. Red Astaire's blending of styles with a hip hop spirit. We played him at least twice already on the Paris DJs podcast of mixes, and published a rather comprehensive discography here on Last december he released a new promo EP on his own Homegrown label, under the Red Astaire moniker, of 5 not-that-good latin/downtempo/hip hop tracks. That is, "not that good" if you just play the mp3s you downloaded as such, as opposed to how you can "play" with them on a turntable... Thanks to the Captain's Crate hint to play the title track at +6, I managed to be able to check the vinyl 12 inch, before eventually buying. All tracks could be played at various speeds for an optimized latin & breakbeats dancefloor deejaying pleasure: in the Paris DJs Soundsystem bag right away. [the version played in this mix is at +6 of course!!]

Tracklisting :
A1. Move Yo Ass
A2. Mambo El B-Boy
B1. Mambo Dinero
B2. Rio De Noche
B3. No Mo!

Reviews :
"Red Astaire hits us with yet another dance floor winner, this time huge latin flavours re mixed with club style drums and extra raps from the like of Clipse to create 4 absolute winners." (Fat City)

"RED ASTAIRE aka FREDDIE CRUGER and 3 FOOT PEOPLE brings us his latest 12", a Latin-flavored five-tracker for HOMEGROWN. He continues to bring a consistently high level of quality for his HOMEGROWN releases and fans of his work on GAMM will no doubt love what they find here.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the massive bass sounds on the B1 track "MAMBO DINERO" we have had a few reports of SOME turntables skipping on this track (and only this track). The track does not skip on most turntables, but it does skip on some it seems. There will NOT be a new pressing without this POTENTIAL fault as neither the mastering house nor the pressing plant can replicate the problem. Please consider this when making your purchase."
