Press Release :
Nostalgia 77, aka Benedic Lamdin, one of Tru Thoughts' most prolific talents, hits the nail right on the head yet again with his "One Offs, Remixes and B-Sides" EP. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, this 12″ is a compact but diverse collection of rare gems.

The New Mastersounds' "Your Love is Mine" featuring Corinne Bailey-Rae (Nostalgia 77 Remix) kicks this release off, and is given a distinct tinge of Nu Jazz in the remix from Nostalgia 77. The vocal from Bailey-Rae is characteristically lush, and amid touches of Nu Jazz innovation, subtly underpinned by the earthiness of a brassy, old time Jazz Standard.

"The Moon" by Nostalgia 77 featuring Capstone and Lizzy Parks opens with dreamy keys from Capstone (Wah Wah 45s, Ninja Tune) that conjure up evocative harmonies with the jazzy vocals of new Tru Thoughts signing Lizzy Parks. The alto sax from Johnny Spall kicks in to keep it rolling along, with a playful yet sophisticated solo. The bass simmering just under the surface all the way through this track, gives it a smoky haze that pays homage to the Jazz classics of years gone by.

The previously unreleased Nostalgia 77 remix of "In Between The Lines" by Bonobo opens with a sizzling drum intro from Graham Fox which is swiftly joined by Bajka's bluesy vocals and the bassiest of sax lines. Savour the delicious contrast between this gritty, stomping tone and a soaring counter-melody that kicks in! Vocal harmonies introduced towards the tail end of the track give a rich depth to complete the many closely intertwining layers.

This EP's final track takes the ear in a distinctly different direction. This is the exclusive Grant Phabao remix of Nostalgia 77's take on "Seven Nation Army" featuring the mighty vocals of Alice Russell. The inspired hit is given a reggae makeover here yet retains its irresistible appeal to those bluesy jazz enthusiasts who went wild for this cover version "first" time around.

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
