Gathering a band of renowned young jazz players, Ben Lamdin (alias Nostalgia 77) has developed his live show with The Nostalgia 77 Octet, recently playing a sell out Crago show with Gilles Peterson and Ed Motta. The Nostalgia 77 Octet live album 'Sevens and Eights', recorded at The Jazz Cafe in London is due for release in January 2006

Nostalgia 77 is the studio project of Ben Lamdin. The project has produced two studio albums and has now found a live presence in the Nostalgia 77 Octet.

Performing the music of nostalgia 77, lost jazz masterpieces, new group composition and improvisation the nostalgia 77 octet are hotly tipped as the new british jazz explosion.

The Nostalgia 77 Octet is formed from some of Londons most exciting and talented new jazz players. Largely formed from graduates of the Royal Academys jazz program and Alumni of the NYJO the band boast members from Mathew Herbert's Big Band and Mathew Bourns Electric Dr M group.

The band are
Graham Fox - Drums, Riaan Vosloo - Bass, Ben Lamdin - Guitar, Ross Stanley - Pianos, Tom Allan - Trumpet, Trevor Mires - Trombone, Jonny Spall - Alto, Mark Hanslip - Tenor.

Playing a majority of the composers original compositions the group also pay homage to their influences which range from vintage british jazz compoitions by Graham Collier to the searching afro american sound of Sun Ra. Put quite simply The Nostalgia 77 Octet is one of the most exciting young groups you can hear today!
