Press release :
Mooncakes deliver 2 slabs of deep fried, furiously fat funk with live bass, guitars, flute & turntables. This isn't just a cut & paste job but a proper mix of old school breaks & new funk shenanigans!

Belgium producer Nicolas Horgnies ensures the heat is maintained throughout on 'Feelin Good' a hip shuffling muvva with nods to late 1960's Stax Records & the mighty Allen Toussaint.

'Don't Leave Me Hanging is an irresistible collision of JB & Meters style funk & mid 1970's boogie. This is good time music for hustling so blow ya whistle y'all!

Feelin Good has just been licensed to 'New Testament Of Funk Volume 5' and Mooncakes are currently working on a follow up single & album for Nanny Tango due end of 2007.

Biography :
Question: Do you like smooth grooves, jazzy guitars, turntablism, and beats so funky you could spank your woman with them? Yes? In that case, look no further: The Mooncakes Project is a mix of all that and much more.

The aim of this project is to produce and release our music the way it was intended- in order to make people happy doing what we love to do. Hopefully you will agree, and in agreeing appreciate what we're doing.

Our first record is available free for download, so please don't hesitate to take a few moments to listen to it, and to forward your opinions to us.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
