Press Release :
Jack To Phono and Flevans Projects are proud to present the second 7" from Mooch. As one of the stalwarts of Brighton's renowned Tru Thoughts label, Flevans released 3 successful 12"s, following these up with 2004's debut 'Make New Friends' album. His music has featured on compilations such as 'Electric Soul' (The Unabombers), 'Anotherlatenight' (Kid Loco), Ministry Of Sound's 'Chillout Sessions' and Ninja Tune's Solid Steel (Bonobo), and has seen him remix the likes of Dr Rubberfunk, Jon Kennedy and most recently Australia's Rephrase to great effect.

Following the 'Make New Friends' release, Flevans took some time out to hone his DJ'ing skills, entertaining crowds at The Big Chill, Friends & Family in Tokyo and Turntables in New York among others. He also used this time to sharpen his live skills, playing bass with Backini's live band – since debuting at Glastonbury, the band have since recorded live sessions for Radio One and another at Abbey Road's infamous Studio Two.

So it was about time to take this experience back into the studio, and get on with recording and releasing more music – in 2005, Flevans hooked up with the up and coming Jack To Phono label to release his debut 7" under the name Mooch – The Mooch album is now completed, and features contributions from Backini, Dr Rubberfunk, JFB and Johnny Tarr (Blackgrass, Backini Live). This tasty 7" features two tracks from the forthcoming album; 'Sounds Good', with it's infectious rolling bassline and killer vocal hooks, and 'Pickinit' a real head-nodder; a laid-back funk track dripping with wah wah guitars.

The debut album is scheduled for release towards the end of this year, with another single in the pipeline, as well as some very tasty remixes. But for now, sit back and enjoy the first Mooch release of what promises to be a very exciting 2006...

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
