Midnite - I Grade - Jah Grid
(CD) I Grade Records CD3062, 2006-10-30

Review :
The leading reggae band from the St. Croix (in the Virgin Islands), Midnite, led by brothers Vaughn and Ron Benjamin, is just plain incredible. They've been touring since 1989, producing an unbelievable amount of records along the way, pushing the standards of pure roots reggae production to new heights. This album, a collaboration between Midnite, and the number one label on their islands, I-Grade Records, is one of 3 in 2006 alone!

Press Release :
Midnite and I Grade again team up for another outstanding release. This one is special since it features all live instrumentation heavy roots throughout- no programming or hip hop production on this one (the purists should be pleased). Vaughn's writing and singing is in top form as always and reacher ever new heights. The boom tune "My Joy" is already a people's favorite in St. Croix. Also check out the tune by Jah Rubal, "Third Eye". Production is by I Grade, Vaughn Benjamin and Blackfoot.

English label Soul Jazz Records released this summer a collection of experimental rock recorded in Venezuela in the 1970s, at a time when oil was flowing in abundance and consequently culture rather well subsidized. However, this music had never really got out of the country until now, it's really a...
