Un format toujours simple (3-4 minutes) de grooves funk, un esprit hip hop dans les beats de Billy Martin, Chris Wood bien en avant en permanence à la basse (on dirait que c'est son album), un savant mélange de piano, de synthés et d'orgues teinté d'influences Herbie Hancock/Stevie Wonder, signé du maestro John Medeski ("le Jimi Hendrix des claviers")... "End Of The World Party (just in case)", produit par John King des Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique", Beck "Odelay", "la B.O. de "Fight Club"...) est l'album le plus accessible du trio jazz (claviers, basse, batterie/percus) habitué aux jams d'envergure, façon Phish, jazz-funk expérimental, downtown NY. Ce n'est quand même pas leur meilleur album (difficile de faire mieux que les premiers), mais c'est une pierre angulaire dans la discographie mythique du légendaire label Blue Note, qui retrouve là toute sa gloire passée de rois du monde jazz-funk.
