Biography :
Manteca is the band to add the real Latin spice to your party or event. This is an all-live band, with no electronic backing tracks, providing that live atmosphere. Formed by Martha, well-known Colombian singer and band leader and Javier, an established composer and musical director, recognised for his unique powerful bass lines!

Manteca's performance is full of raw energy. An all-singing, all-dancing show playing 70's Nuyorican Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Boogaloo and Bossa with a splash of jazz and funk, resulting in a fresh and exhilarating style for both dancing and listening. You don't have to be Latin to dance and enjoy their music, in fact it appeals to all ages and races but if you're new to Latin dancing, don't worry - Martha can demonstrate some of the basic steps.

Manteca starts as a seriously energetic five to six piece which is perfect for smaller parties such as weddings or private celebrations. This line-up comprises of keyboard, sax and trumpet a drummer and of course Javier on bass and Martha on vocals. For a really potent ensemble, the band can be augmented with more horns and extra Latin percussion up to a full 9-piece group.

So, just remember...whatever band size you choose... MANTECA guarantee to blow away the dance floor with their unique explosive sound!
The band performs for up to two hours divided into two or three sets. Manteca brings a full PA system, lighting and can play CDs during their breaks.
