Info :
From the dusty vaults of Jack to Phono we present 'The Pant' by Mamaluke. Brainchild of DJ Schack and Ghetto Svend, these 2 Danes hail from Jutland (thats the bit joined to Germany.) Geography lesson over - and now the music one begins...

Released after a great reaction on CDR during a DJ set at the Jazz Cafe when a flurry of tastemaker DJs crowded round the box to ask for a copy. Already receiving play from XFM's Nick Luscombe and Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45s) in its original form, we decided to add some remixes to this summer fuelled jazzy little number.

First up, Jack to Phono's Beatphreak turn up the breaks, retaining the catchy hook but adding a funkin disco vibe. Look out for this one on the dancefloor- already a favourite at Friends and Family in Manchester and sure to spread throughout the land. Next up Tru Thought's wunderkind Flevans gives us a guitar led workout - again keeping the flavour of the original but taking it into deeper funk territory - just check that bass! Lastly DJ Schack Attack plus multi instru-mentalist Henrik 'Konnikol' Andersen re-tweak the the track into a flamenco styled monster under their Yogasm Sound System moniker - a Cafe Del Mar classic in the making!

Enjoy your summer 2005 workout!'

Venezuela 70 - Cosmic Visions Of A Latin American Earth - Venezuelan Experimental Rock In The 1970s (CD/2LP, Soul Jazz, 2016)

English label Soul Jazz Records released this summer a collection of experimental rock recorded in Venezuela in the 1970s, at a time when oil was flowing in abundance and consequently culture rather well subsidized. However, this music had never really got out of the country until now, it's really a...
