Los Hermanos Latinos - EP4
(12") Bootleg LHL004, 2006-12-18
Review :
I got a call today from a former EMI employee friend of mine who had been gracing me with free records for years when he was "working" for the major company. He wanted to thank me for the mp3s of the Los Hermanos Latinos mysterious duo I had sent him, which he had been loopingly listening to, and which he even played recently at a cocktail party he was deejaying for. The questions which followed was the same as always: "Who are they?" and "Where can I buy those incredible 12 inches???". Fro the first one, street word says it's Quantic teaming up with Soundway honcho Miles Cleret - but nothing's proven yet. For the second question, I pointed him towards Parisian store Betino's or online record shop Fat City, which usually carry the latest Los Hermanos Latinos release (and many other marvels - support your local dealer!). He was delighted but I warned him that only the latest one should still be available, because this project is a bootleg one, remixing old and obscure latin tracks with additional hip hop beats and club-friendly re-editing, and releasing them on promotional strictly-limited 1000 copies editions. I immediatly sent him the newest EP (I mean, the mp3s...), and chances are high he'll be ordering it on lovely vinyl tonight... and he'd be foolish not to cos it's a winner once again of enfievered latin-funk jams with killer percussions and horn riffs - guaranteed to fill your favorite latin dancefloors! This series is by far the best in the afro-cuban/Nuyorican re-editing realm so try to grab this record before it's too late...
