Loik - West Indies Vintage Funk

West Indies Vintage Funk
Loik - West Indies Vintage Funk
(MP3 Podcast on ParisDJs.com) Kraked, 2006-02-06

Info :

True French digging - it's not in L.A. that this one could have been laid to you! Rare and unexpected vinyls, Funk directly from from Haiti, Cuba, the Barbados, Belize, the Antilles and even a peel of Jamaica. A Homage also to the superb label work from Isma'a or BNO who keep on seeking the graals of a groove which without their passion would be too often forgotten.
Go now "ROULÉ" like the mythical hit from La Perfecta says, which devastated all the West-Indian dancefloors in the 70's. It's really freezing outside these days so here's something to put your pants on fire!

Hazmat Modine - Blues & Brass Songbook

Hazmat Modine Blues and Brass Songbook

We are a kind of post-modern-ethno-Jugband says Hazmat Modine's frontman Wade Schuman in the long interview we've just published (read it here). A man of many passions, Wade composes his unique and rich sound like a golden age painter would choose different colours, textures, frames and materials. It's a variegated world full of strange or mundane animals, filled with tiny sounds from nature. Even if the core of what Hazmat Modine does is blues, the musical influences spectrum and tastes of the band, revealed in this exclusive mix, are almost infinite. You'll meet some longtime Hazmat friends and collaborators (Natalie Merchant, Gangbé Brass band, The Wiyos...)  as well as living or dead harmonica blues legends... Don't miss the band as it is back in Europe this Spring (Gigs details here), beginning its tour in Paris May 24th at Le Studio de L'Ermitage!
