Après nous avoir plongé dans le funk des barrios latinos avec ses excellentes compiles "Nuyorican Funk Experience", Adrian Gibson remet le couvert version disco. Le résultat est à la hauteur de nos attentes, à savoir un mélange a priori totalement indigeste de beats pumpy, d'arrangements dignes de "Love boat" et de percus latines, mais finalement totalement explosif! Si les inévitables mais toujours terrassants Eddie Palmieri (avec un "Spirit of Love" digne des E. W. & F. de l'époque "Sun Goddess") et Mongo Santamaria (une cover de "Lady Marmelade" bien plus boogaloo que disco) sont de la partie, quelques titres exhumés par Gibson vous feront notamment découvrir du "latin disco" péruvien (Jaime Delgado Aparicio y su Orquesta Contemporanea!), qui vous enlèvera toute idée préconçue sur la musique des Andes (la flûte de pan, les ponchos, etc, etc.), et une reprise de "Sunny" par le groupe Yambu, qui vous fera sans nul doute sussurer "mmm... Y'ambu latin disco!".
