Press Release :
Melbourne producer Lanu explores Latin-influenced house flavours on his first outing for the label. 'Biejo Do Sol' serves up the soaring, angelic vocals of Melbourne's 'United Voices', alongside bouncing Rhodes, percussion and flute. 'Mosquito Coast' is a deep, bass heavy house groove peppered with trumpet, Cuban montunos and a sublime McCoy Tyner-esque piano solo. Two soulful sides for discerning dance-floors everywhere. New Zealander Lanu (AKA Lance Ferguson) relocated to Melbourne in 1990, quickly establishing himself as an in-demand session guitarist in the Jazz/Soul/Funk scene. Later moving into the production arena, he has worked on productions with John 'Julius' Knight (USA), Kneedeep (GER), KJ Jorj, Simon Grey, Ennio Styles and Quench. Lanu's own productions have been released on Soul Source (Japan), TruThoughts (UK), Local People Records, Bamboo Shack, Warner, Sonido Denso (Spain), Hardware, Lemon Groove and Jazzhead - receiving acclaim from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Straight No Chaser magazine, Jazzanova, Patrick Forge, Keb Darge, Rainer Truby, Big Daddy magazine, Snowboy, Daniel Magg, Quantic and Nicola Conte. Lanu's live shows and DJ sets have been heard alongside Derrick Carter, Snowboy, Masters At Work, Jazzanova, Keb Darge, Matthew Herbert, Dynamo Productions, and Katalyst.
