(12") Altered Vibes AVR016, 2005-10-10
Update 2005-06-29 - Nick Lawrence from Altered Vibes Records says : "We have been taking our time on this, getting the artwork right and working on the LP. With the way its going, reckon it should be early part of September.

Gum Drop drop the deep funk with the raw soul with nu science in a vintage style. Randolph Matthews (voice) and Rob Mac (instruments and production) experiment with the sonics with a little help from fellow studio residents Lucy Wilkins (violin) and Matt Smooth (drums) on a mission to save the world from anaesthetized saccharine soul...
(Rob Mac & Matt Smooth = Jumbonics)

Tracklisting :
1. Gum Drop - Sinkin Feeling
2. Gum Drop - Sinkin Feeling (instrumental)
3. Gum Drop - (Keeps On) Burning
4. Gum Drop - (Keeps On) Burning (instrumental)

Info : Imagine Sa-Ra sparking up with Spacek and you're half way there. 'Scratch' legend Rob Mac explores his more soulful side with new project, Gum Drop, due to take over the airwaves this summer. With a little help from long time cohort Matt Smooth (on drums) and Lucy Wilkin's lush violin skills, Gum Drop deliver soul music with a razor-sharp edge. A delicate balance of sweet melody, sparse electronics and old school beats. The other half of the Gum Drop puzzle lies in the tender vocal that's at the heart of their music. Singer Randolph Matthews is an enigma. Vocalist, percussionist, world-renowned singing coach and the first choice of artists such as Sandboy, John Beltran, and even Terry Callier, Randolph's deep and sultry tones complete the Gum Drop sound.
'Sinking Feeling' pits Matthew's distinctive timbre against chugging, twisted electronica; pure 21st century blues. For a more uptempo excursion, flip the script for the fiery '(Keeps On) Burning' where classic hip hop beats, and one bad ass b-line combine with Randolph's glorious vocals for a low slung, slow burning, party rocker. With a debut long-player to come this summer, make sure you're around when the Gum Drop drops. Goody goody.
